Thank so much for being here with me as i share my story. @tesxla had the idea of me having flowers for this shoot, and posting it right now just made sense…
As we stood on the bridge i imagined all the moments where i expected flowers and i just didn’t get them…
•All the lonely moments in 2nd place that should’ve been the gold but it wasn’t because of racism or sexism
•All the confusing moments where i should’ve been excited but i couldn’t be because i was scared because i was surrounded by males and my body knew better than to relax
•All the moments where i was innocent and grieving but instead treated like a criminal and a pariah.
I didn’t know that i would share the story of the loss of my virginity and my innocence. I didn’t know so many of you would get it. So many of you would be thankful that i shared my story.
For once i received flowers… not the celebratory ones… the ones you get at the hospital when a loved one picks you up after the rape kit and wants to distract you. The flowers you get that represent renewal. The flowers that remind you you’re not alone.
I am so grateful for each of you. I have more to tell and it’s going to be horrific and messy and uncomfortable, but i feel like I’m not alone.
Let’s burn bridges together. 🌉🔥🔥🔥🔥
