Sooo I signed up for an Ironman 🤯👀!! 7 weeks until I give it a go and see if I can make it around the course at Ironman Western Australia 🦘! Please give me the best and worst advice you received before your first Ironman 👇! I’m still trying to wrap my head around swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 miles, and running a casual 26.2 miles (probably why I haven’t purchase my plane ticket yet 😂)!

IRONMAN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP | KONA 2026 🌺

After years of following this legendary race, I arrived in Kona with great respect for its unknown challenges and one clear goal: to cross that finish line.

Following my last heavy training block, a ten-day illness finally cleared just two days before race day.

Kona lived up to its reputation from the start. Choppy waters, massive ocean swells, and an extra 515 meters of swimming made for a challenging opening.

Morning rain brought heavy humidity, followed by scorching lava-field heat, relentless winds, and the rolling climbs toward Hawi.

My strategy was simple: respect the course, race conservatively, and save energy for the marathon.

On the run, I walked every aid station from beginning to end, packing my hat and body with ice to manage the heat. The goal was to reach the infamous Energy Lab with plenty left in the tank.

And that’s exactly what happened. Coming out of the Energy Lab with roughly 16 km remaining, I felt remarkably strong and comfortable. I’ve always believed that a full-distance Ironman truly begins in the final 16 km.

So I gradually picked up the pace, kilometer after kilometer, all the way to that magical finish line on Aliʻi Drive.

Finishing strong at Kona was incredibly satisfying, knowing the strategy had worked exactly as intended.

Patience isn’t the opposite of racing hard. It’s knowing when to race hard.

Time is relative. Execution is everything.

Proud of this one! 🌺

Thanks to my coach @lucvanlierde for bringing me strong to this race, my whole family for the patience to me on my endeavors… @ondergroundracing

An amazing bike course with smooth, clean six-lane roads, rolling hills and excellent organisation. The first lap felt good, but the wind shifted on the second and made us work much harder for every kilometre.

Did 91.11 km @ 30 in 3 hours 2 minute
Elevation total 700 m

The swim is still the hardest part for me, but the Red Sea was so beautiful, it felt like swimming inside an aquarium 🌊🐠🪸

We started at 6:47 AM with the water at 27°C. The current helped in the first half, then we swam against it in the second.

My sighting was better, I stayed on course and didn’t miss a buoy this time. Small improvements that mean a lot to me. Still learning, and with more training, I’ll keep getting better 🤍

1,900 m | 52:17 | 2:45/100 m ⏱️

Oh dear God, that RUN 🥵🔥 No shade, rolling hills and three laps of hell.

My core temperature reading stayed around 39.1°C throughout the run. It wasn’t easy at all. Every lap felt harder tha Ironamn
