From the treasure chest of memories, 1999: my first trip as an apprentice with great masters.

I don't normally buy many souvenirs, but Rapa Nui was a special place and this wooden moai creates a kind of link between there and my home country of New Zealand. The carver - @tevopakarati - lived in Wellington for a while and created a large moai which the Chilean government presented to NZ as a gift. It stands at one end of Lyall Bay, a few hundred metres from one of my old flats. So by bringing this small moai home with me to the UK it feels like I'm completing one side of a triangle that ties all three places together.
