We Are Computing. 💻🤘 Computing is bigger than any one discipline. It’s a community bringing different perspectives together to solve meaningful problems and shape what’s next. The new School of Computing at @utaustintx unites computer science, information and statistics & data science. Graduation Series: 1/4 ✨🎓🧡 To the hardest thing I’ve ever done: My Masters👩🏻‍🎓 When I landed in Austin, I thought I was ready. Ready for the freedom, the hustle, the adventure. I imagined movie nights with friends, exciting classes, and weekend trips around Texas. But reality? It hit harder than I expected. But nothing — nothing — could have prepared me for how tough it would actually be. The Texas heat was the first to greet me, unapologetically intense. Then came the non-stop grind — networking every day, turning unfamiliar faces into friendships, diving into endless assignments, applying for internships and jobs with no pause. I was collaborating with teammates from cultures I had never worked with before, learning new communication styles, balancing academics with the chaos of adulting. There were nights I’d come home exhausted, only to realize I still had to cook, clean, and figure out tomorrow’s plan. I missed home. I missed my family. I missed my friends back home. I missed the comfort of being cared for. Life flipped upside down from the one I lived for 22 years. Yet, here I am — a little stronger, a little braver. I got through the breakdowns, the overwhelming competition, and the creeping self-doubt. I explored new places even when I didn’t feel like it, leaned on the kindness of new friends , old friends and cousins, and slowly, finally, started finding comfort in my own company. I’m not where I want to be yet, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come from Day 1. ✨ So if you’ve only seen smiles and sunsets on my feed, it’s because I chose to capture the good. Not to hide the struggle, but to remind myself of the light that existed even on my darkest days. So when I look back, I remember the strength it took to smile. So, to anyone planning to start their Master’s — come ready for it all. It’s not just a degree, it’s a whole new life that’s going to start from zero and that’s okay ❤️ Here’s to more growth, more grace, and more glowing through the grind ✨ #MastersJourney #UTAustin #GradLifeUnfiltered #InternationalStudent #ResilienceInProgress #AustinDiaries
