"Sandyland Ranch"

I recently had the opportunity to visit "Sandyland Ranch" with the @texaslandconservancy for inspiration for a new linocut for the "Art for Conservation" show that I'm in with them on November 1st. Here are some of the black and white 35mm film shots from that day.

What a great event put on by AFT @ Dixon Water Foundation!

The day consisted of robust discussion about conservation easement options, benefits, considerations, and resources available to landowners.

Thanks to:
Sarah Fulton - Smith, American Farmland Trust (AFT)
Andy James - Texas Agricultural Land Trust (TALT)
Jack Cearley - Texas Land Conservancy (TLC)
Rachel Seets - Native Prairies Association of Texas (NPAT)

Hearing about pollinator research and best practice by Dr. Elinor Lichtenberg was a great addition to a very informative day.

I’m excited to be a featured artist at Texas Land Conservancy’s Art for Conservation! Art for Conservation is a one-night art showcase and fundraiser featuring artwork inspired by the beauty of Texas’ wild places. Proceeds benefit both the participating artists and Texas Land Conservancy’s mission to protect land and connect people to nature. I’m excited to share my artwork with the public and hope you’ll join us Sunday, November 1, from 3–7 pm at Austin Winery for an evening of art, community, and conservation.

Thanks in advance for hosting @theaustinwinery !

Before I ever raised a dollar, I inherited a problem.

An interest in 50 acres. Multiple heirs. Family members buried on the property since the early 1800s.

“Here’s your inheritance. Figure out what to do with it.”

That meant navigating title issues, hiring the right attorneys, overseeing local demolition contractors and working with state agencies on cemetery registration.

Working through it taught me to ask better questions, bring the right people together and stay with a problem long enough to find a path forward.

At first, I thought it was just our family’s challenge. Then I started meeting other families carrying their own version of it.

One family’s land assemblage was built over 50 years. That is a lifetime of work and stewardship. Their next chapter deserves that same care.

Since launching Boone Capital in July 2025, 241+ conversations—with families, multi-family offices and others across the land economy—have brought me into confidential property discussions spanning nearly 30,000 acres, from Oregon to the East Coast.

Land has no one-size-fits-all solution.

Sometimes the answer is keeping a farm productive. Sometimes it involves conservation, a different capital structure or exploring a future in public ownership.

It takes listening, patience and the ability to connect families with operators, attorneys, lenders, agencies and conservation partners.

A steward has to be a Swiss Army knife in cowboy boots.

I believe God has given me a calling to serve these families and the next generation of stewards. I’m grateful for every relationship this work has brought into my life.

I inherited a problem.
I found a calling.

Private equity for good.

If your family is facing a complicated land situation, I’d welcome a conversation.

Be part of the 2%.

Only a small percentage of Americans work in production agriculture, but 100% of us rely on it every single day.

It’s more than a way of life. It’s what keeps America going.

I’m honored to be featured among some other great artists at Texas Land Conservancy’s Art for Conservation on November 1 at Austin Winery! I’ll have my west Texas series as well as a selection of other pieces celebrating the beautiful natural spaces and native plants and animals of our state.

This one-night art showcase and fundraiser will feature local artists inspired by the beauty, hope, and resilience of Texas’ wild places, with proceeds supporting both participating artists and Texas Land Conservancy’s mission to protect land and connect people to nature.

Come out on Sunday, November 1 from 3-7pm to sip some wine, shop local art, and celebrate the wild places that make Texas special.

I’ll also give a brief talk about this series and how exploring the natural areas continues to inspire my work. More details on the timing of that to come.

We’ll see you there!
