Best event, best track, best people. Thank you @apexhpde for once again allowing us to join alongside this epic event. Thank you to the @144.phrs team for bringing the vibes, hospitality, and culture. Love you all to death. And to everyone else that makes this event a priority, you all are the reason this event is my favorite of the year. Purist that are here not only for the driving, but the culture and camaraderie. Good news, we are running it back for next year 🙏

🏁 FIELD TRIP: TEXAS TRACK WORKS 🏁

You saw a little of our adventure in the video… but these pictures deserved their own post. 🧡

With Miatas at Hallett coming up, Carola and I decided it might be wise to learn a few things before somebody hands us helmets and points us toward a race track. 😂🏎️

So off to Texas Track Works we went!

Trent and Mason walked us through what goes into a proper track inspection—what they’re looking for underneath the car, the little things that can become BIG things on track, safety, preparation, and basically all the stuff you suddenly realize you should probably know before you go flying into Turn 1. 😳😂

My orange 30AE went up in the air, we crawled around underneath, asked approximately 4,762 questions, and soaked up everything we could.

And can we talk about this shop?! Race cars everywhere. Trophies on the walls. Cool stuff in every direction. This is the kind of place where you could wander around for an hour and still keep finding things to look at.

And then there’s Luna. 🐶❤️

Apparently Texas Track Works has an official undercarriage inspection supervisor. She stayed on the job the ENTIRE time—directly underneath the Miata, naturally. 😂 Clearly, we passed the Luna inspection. ✅

Huge thank you to Trent, Mason and everyone at Texas Track Works for taking the time to teach us instead of just telling us what to do. There’s a big difference, and we appreciate it more than you know. ❤️

Every time Carola and I do one of these adventures, we walk away knowing a little more, laughing a LOT more…and usually realizing how much more there still is to learn.

Hallett, we’re coming. 🏁
Whether Hallett is ready for us is an entirely different question. 😂

And yes… we now know about the meatball flag. 🟠🏴
We would very much like to never meet it personally. 🤣

36. The second year in a row I’ve had food poisoning on my birthday. But these views sure don’t suck. Thanks @1l_in_loyd for letting us crash/share your birthday trip. Germany, Switzerland, France. You guys are the best people to travel with 🫡 Here’s to another year of doing cool shit with friends.

Miatas at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit prep has officially begun! 🏁🏎️💨

Carola and I took our shenanigans on the road today and headed over to Texas Track Works for a little field trip!

And first — sorry we missed y’all last Tuesday! Carola was coming off a HUGE tattoo convention and I was at Miatas at the Gap with basically ZERO service. 😂 Between tattoos, Miatas and mountains, we were temporarily off the grid!

But we’re back… and gearing up for the 24th Miatas at Hallett! 🏁

Before we go asking our cars to do track-car things, we figured it might be a good idea to learn exactly what goes into making sure they’re actually ready for the track.

Trent and Mason walked us through what a proper track inspection entails — what they check, what they’re looking for, and WHY some of those seemingly little things become very big things once you start asking a car to perform at speed.

Brakes. Tires. Fluids. Suspension. Safety. All the things you definitely want someone paying attention to before you send it. 🏎️💨

We asked questions.
We learned things.
We asked more questions. 😂
You know… the usual when you put Carola and me together.
And somewhere along the way, we got a lesson on the infamous MEATBALL FLAG. 🟠🏴

For those who don’t know, that’s basically the track’s way of saying, “Hey you… something mechanical needs attention. Come on in.” 😬😂

Carola and I are perfectly happy learning about that one BEFORE Hallett rather than becoming personally acquainted with it there. 🤣

A HUGE thank you to Trent, Mason and Texas Track Works for taking the time to show us the ropes, answer all our questions and let us bring the cameras along for the ride. ❤️

Come along with us as we learn a few things, laugh a lot and get ready for our next adventure…

Next stop: HALLETT! 🏁🔥

And may the meatball remain purely educational. 😂🟠#trackdogracing #emotionallyboosted #tdr #texastrackworks #trackinspections
