Join us for the opening of Chinamaxxing at tiat this Friday, Sept 25th! ⭐️ A group exhibition on view 9/25 - 10/17 at TIAT in SF ⭑.ᐟ Drink hot water. Learn the characters. Buy the robot dog. Imagine the future happening somewhere else. Earlier this year, “Chinamaxxing” emerged online as a playful embrace of contemporary China—its technology, infrastructure, food, fashion, and everyday life. But what, exactly, are you embracing—a culture, an aesthetic, a political possibility, a different version of yourself? And how does that invitation feel when the culture being discovered is already your own? Across sculpture, moving image, poetry, performance, and interactive systems, Chinamaxxing follows objects, technologies, and rituals as they travel across borders. The artists explore what gets translated, imitated, misunderstood, or made intimate along the way. The exhibition asks what we want from China, and what we might discover beyond wanting ⭑.ᐟ Run of Show 7:00pm Doors ( & mooncakes as supplies last) 7:30pm Cheryl (Xuan) Yang - The Peacock Flies Southeast 7:35pm Artist Talks ⭑.ᐟ Featuring artworks from: Ago, Anna Zhang, Aung Nyein Chan (Enchax), Becky Button, Danielle Baskin, Danlin Huang, Dann Disciglio, Darren Zhu, Devin Wilson, Elisa Lupin-Jimenez, Joy He, Vivian Lu, Kenya, Guo Teng Liang, Jade Q Wang, Jiabao Li, Joanna Lyu, Kat Zhang (The Poet Engineer), Kels Chen, Ketty Haolin Zhang, Mona Wang, Kerem Goksel, Qianwen Yu, Snow, Sophia Meng, Viola He, Weichen Zhou, Wendi Yan 颜文笛, Yi Xie 谢羿, Yuehao Jiang, Ziyuan “Zoey” Zhu With drinks from KULE, a food and beverage brand inspired by Chinese herbal tradition. ⭑.ᐟ More Chinamaxxing Events!
