5 things I’ve learned since earning the title of Ms. Ohio Prime Division 3.

1️⃣ 1) I've spent too much time being afraid. Afraid to put myself out there and look silly, be judged, and of letting people see me "fail". Afraid to ask people to support me because "I'm not important enough" or "this doesn't matter to anyone". I've been selling myself short for far too long.

2️⃣ Strong women will support me. I've experienced a few women in my life who have led me to avoid befriending women altogether. This actually was a huge reason why I was hesitant to join a pageant system. My experience so far has shown me that confident and secure women have no interest in caddy, superficiality and it's been insanely refreshing.

3️⃣ I have a story to tell and people want to hear it. In the past, I've felt like sharing my story placed me under this "victim raincloud" and "woe is me" mentality. But sharing my story is strength and that vulnerability draws me toward others to create genuine friendships and an incredible support system.

4️⃣ Doors will open but only if you knock. When I received my title, I wasn't flooded with inquiries and opportunities, I still had/have to work for them. My title has given me a great platform to initiate conversation but, the true connection comes from embracing my skills, overcoming the fear of rejection, and just being me!

5️⃣ I still have room to grow. And thank goodness for that! I'm immensely grateful for everything I've learned so far and am eager to continue learning. Giving myself permission to recognize how far I've already come is a great thing but, knowing that there's still so much more ahead makes this journey even more exciting!
