BRICK staff and students came together to sign the final steel beam before it was raised into place, marking the completion of the building’s structural framework. 🇺🇸

From ground breaking earlier this year to reaching this major milestone, the Wellness Center is taking shape! We’re excited to continue watching this project come to life and bring this space to our community.

Special thanks to @tfanj for documenting this amazing moment!

The power of collaboration and a shared commitment to Newark’s families. 💙

When organizations unite their strengths, resources, and passion, they create opportunities that can have a lasting impact on the communities they serve. This conversation is a reminder that meaningful change happens through partnership, trust, and collective action.

Stay tuned as we continue sharing the stories behind the people and organizations helping build a stronger South Ward.

This week I had the pleasure of attending Teach For America New Jersey’s One Day Breakfast. What a wonderful and inspiring event!

Learning about the extraordinary work that TFA has done — and continues to do — in Camden City brought me pure joy. Not only are they doing transformative work, but they also presented the data to support the impact. That was especially impressive.

Tahina Perez thank you for your vision and call to action. I look forward to personally ad professionally supporting TFA’s efforts to achieve the #60by30 goal.

Drew Giddings thank you again for thinking of me and providing me a seat at the table. Please know that moving forward, I will introduce myself the way you did yesterday!#60by30

To all the teachers who inspire young minds every day: thank you. 🍎🧡

Tonight at Audible Story House, we celebrated NJ & NYC teachers with an evening of shared listening and creativity—powered by @teachforamerica, @reading_rhythms, and @crayola.

“Teaching is deeply relational work, and spaces like this remind us that educators also deserve moments to connect, reflect, and be inspired,” said Tahina Perez, Executive Director for Teach For America New Jersey. “We’re grateful to celebrate teachers alongside partners who recognize the power of stories to bring people together and spark imagination in classrooms and communities alike.”

Each educator left with a 6-month Audible membership to discover new stories and reconnect with well-loved classics. #TeacherAppreciationWeek

Shout out to @thegrio for this amazing article!

And none of this would have been possible without the opportunity @tfanj gave me to continue my career creating a positive impact in the Camden city education landscape. Truly thankful for their leadership and courage to push past the performative posture and tone that these conversations take on far too often, and for the collective willingness to dive deep into real, meaningful, transformative work!

🤩Last week, Turrell staffer Dareen Abukwaik attended @tfanj One Day Breakfast in Newark – highlighting the importance of literacy.

💫Teach for America New Jersey (TFA NJ) partners with communities to expand educational opportunities and build a high-quality education system.

🎯One of TFA NJ’s goals is to improve third grade reading outcomes, a key predictor of high school graduation, college attendance, and future economic stability.

✨During the One Day Breakfast, TFA NJ highlighted leaders within the community: Assemblywoman Shanique Speight; Shanell Dunns; and Dominique Lee.

🙌Turrell proudly supports TFA NJ and its mission to elevate the importance of literacy for students. Thank you for all you do!
