Happy birthday to Uncle @thadoch!! (a.k.a. “Huncle”)

He’s a therapist, a stylist, an artist, a loyal friend, and the best brother I could ever imagine. I’ve been told we have a unique sibling relationship, and I guess that’s true, considering he didn’t even blink when I asked him to be my birth partner.
He took a childbirth class with me and volunteered as the c-section model (pictured above), witnessed the most painful/beautiful/terrifying parts of bringing his tiny niece into the world, and also served as my labor & delivery DJ.
I cannot imagine a more supportive person and love the bond he now has with little 🐝
I’m so very grateful that the universe brought us together.
Love you brah !!!!!

☀️ baby Beatrice 💕
Bea is named after my mom’s mother, Beatrice, who died much too young, when I was 10.
My grandma Bea was born and raised on the Upper West Side and graduated from Hunter High School and Hunter College, summa cum laude/Phi Beta Kappa, by age 20 in 1950.
For most of my mom’s childhood, Bea was a single mom, raising two kids and working full time — unusual for the 1960s — ensuring her kids had everything they ever needed. She was tough when she had to be, and possessed the most tender heart.
May the qualities of my Grandma Bea inspire my daughter as she grows and makes her way in this world.
✨
Becoming a solo mom was a decision that took me years to make, and I know I could not be doing this without incredible support from my family and wonderful friends. This past week, watching my brother become an uncle and my parents become grandparents, has been the sweetest time for our family.
People say “it takes a village,” and Bea & I truly have the best one I could ever imagine.
I’m so very grateful.
