⛰️⛵️LOVE is not the threat HATE is. True community means looking out for one another without exception. In Mountain Lakes, we wave at our neighbors, support local business, and show up when times get tough. But for a community to be truly strong, everyone must feel safe, valued, and seen, which is exactly why PRIDE matters here at home.
Our Mountain Lakes Pride committee was established in one of our kitchens only four years ago as a non-profit organization whose only mission is to remind all Lakers that love, acceptance, and belonging belong in every neighborhood. We stand for a more inclusive future by supporting all community members, regardless of their color, religion, or sexual orientation. Inclusion is not a passive belief; it is a daily choice to listen to each other’s stories, challenge unkindness when we see it, and actively open our doors and minds to everyone.
Despite recent acts of hate towards our Pride efforts, our community’s spirit remains unbroken. Hate has no home here, and it will never outshine the unity, strength, and love we share. This year’s Pride event at the Birchwood Pavilion was a powerful reminder of how far we have come, welcoming families, allies, and queer youth to socialize, share experiences, and find a vibrant sense of belonging.
We extend a huge thank you to the incredible local businesses and non-profits that stepped up and turned a rainy day into a rainbow. We are deeply grateful to Kalandra Decor, The Corner Creamery, Thainybites, Bakos Pizza, Edge New Jersey, MLBT Social Justice Coalition, Lakeland Hills YMCA, RWJ Barnabas Health, and Family Support Organization of Morris and Sussex. Local partnerships like these are what make our community truly special, inclusive, and Laker Strong.
Coming up next is Pride Storytime! Join us for an inclusive, joyful celebration at the Mountain Lakes Public Library on June 24, 2026, at 3:30 PM for an afternoon of stories, community, and connection. All are welcome, and we cannot wait to see you there 🌈📚🏘️

For Allie, a culinary artist, and Carmine, a gifted composer, Castello di Petrata became the perfect stage to merge their fast-paced passions with authentic Italian elegance.
Before they exchanged vows on the sun-drenched lawn, they shared a secluded “first look” beneath a rustic, vine-draped pergola. It was a quiet, cinematic moment that we intentionally captured on our vintage Rollei 6x6, allowing us to preserve the raw emotion and the romantic soul of medium format film
As evening fell, the celebration transformed into a true reflection of who they are. Allie delighted her guests by crafting her wedding cake entirely from scratch in a live, alfresco cooking show. Just moments after their first dance, Carmine silenced the courtyard by serenading his new wife.
This is what happens when you treat a wedding not as a checklist, but as a living poem.
