We had an amazing West Coast premiere of GIVE ME THE BALL! on Wednesday at the Aero Theater in LA, thanks to @am_cinematheque’s This Is Not A Fiction Film Festival! We were honored that some of our film’s subjects and tennis greats Julie Heldman and Rosie Casals were in the audience.

Thank you so much to everyone who came out, @slofilmfest for also showing this week and the cookie display, and to The Hollywood Reporter’s scott_feinberg for a wonderful Q&A!

We play this weekend at @sffilm!

So many of my personal and career highlights happened here in Park City at the Sundance Film Festival. My career started here in 1998, when we premiered The Farm: Angola USA . What you may not know is that my family also started here. Back at that first Sundance, a person I had met while I was in high school left a note for me to me via my publicist, the amazing Susan Norget. That person was Dan Cogan.

Since then we have returned with over a dozen films. We have seen the passing of the torch from Geoff Gilmore to the glorious John Cooper to the force that is Kim Yutani. We have mourned the loss of its spirit leader, Robert Redford, and celebrated his daughter Amy as she brings into this next chapter. We have put our kids in ski school, crashed in houses the Geralyn Dreyfous found for us, danced our asses off, and most of all, reveled in the divine art of filmmaking.

This year, saying goodbye to Park City, could not have been more meaningful. Having Billie Jean King, Ilana Kloss and GIVE ME THE BALL! premiere at Eccles, at this moment of cultural upheaval in 2026, hit differently. Billie’s story is a joyous and fierce one of tenacity, resilience, and triumph. Billie’s favorite quote is from Coretta Scott King, and it bears repeating here: “Struggle is a never-ending process. Freedom is never really won; you earn it and win it in every generation.” Billie can show us the way.

Thank you to RSA and Rocket for bringing this project to us to ESPN and Disney for believing in us!. To the Story Syn FAM who worked their butts off with love and joy on this film, Co-director Elizabeth Wolff, Producers Dan Cogan & Chris James, Josh Pearson, Helen Russell, Thor Thielow, Avantika Nimbalker, Tony Hardmon, Laura Karpman, Charlotte Zonis, Andrew Mayz, Yuna Ma, Ryan Mazie, Jon Bardin, Tommy Coriale, Casey Currier, Eber Pineiro, Mario Di Poi.
