I came back home between each hike this summer, and I got to relish in a good ole montana summer during those moments. Long-distance hiking is a big time commitment so it’s fun to do different summer things, sometimes. Back-country skiing in June, mountain biking in July, and climbing in August with hikes all in between. It’s a busy life but I don’t know what I’d be doing if I wasn’t dead tired all the time.

Sweet baby Indi no longer hikes long distances, so it’s special to come home and see her, and I guess being able to do all the above mentioned things with Jon is pretty cool too! Montana is a special place and I’m grateful to call it my home base.

Met @whereisjadaa down in the desert for a week of canyoneering! @thatchernelson @kyle_treks and Pete all got their first taste of some technical slots! And we did not take it easy on them! Leaving for the trip there was some bad weather (lots of rain) in the forecast but we got more than 10 technical slots in, with countless more on the short list for my next visit back to the area. I can not recommend the North Wash enough, although right next to the road and quite busy, we still never ran into another group on route (except for guided groups on an easy route). I am really thankful for all the wonderful people I get to share these memories and the campsite with. And thankful i made the 2 hour drive thru washboard hell to see @maddimovin and David... take care of my girlfriend you two!!!!

Got to ski 3 peaks today! Not the day I expected, but we all had a blast. I'd prefer to avoid more standoffs with the locals (read Mountain Goats) but it definitely made the trip memorable #flmr

In a world where everything seems divided, there’s still one thing and one place that keeps peeps together. This mountain is a special place but it wouldn’t be nearly as great without these people.

Cheers to five dang winters here.
