“You are going to Naar again! Didn’t you just go there?” My friends and family asked me a few weeks ago when I was set to make way to what’s among my favourite places yet again. “I am, even if I just did” I had to tell them to close the discussion.

And how could I not? Being at Naar is always such a pleasure, not just because the food is great but because of the warmth of the place, the joy on everyone’s face, the stunning setting and because once you make that trek you’re 100% there — mentally, emotionally, and physically.

This trip was even more special because many of my FB friends joined us — thanks to @rajan_sethi @deepikasethii @prateeksadhu and @aashinakaul — and the room was filled with laughter, joy, camaraderie and of course good food that brings it all together.

I have always heard @prateeksadhu say how he envisioned @restaurantnaar to be a home in the hills, complete with a living room, dining hall and the ever burning kitchen fire. And I always notice how he has achieved all that in less than three years!

Naar is not just a home for him and his team but for many of us now — and that is some feat.

To @aashinakaul @kamlnegi @akshaytripathi.10 @sonakshi.soni @prateeksadhu and each person who makes Naar what it is a big hug from us! To @rajan_sethi and @deepikasethii for making this one possible. And to all friends and colleagues who made it even more special — may the good times always last!

it's barely been a month to Jantar. i've barely left office this year. so what does one even say about independence? this abstract little construct that means different things to different people, all at once.

rajan and deepika invited me for drinks and dinner at their restaurant in chandigarh, over poetry and songs from the pre-independence days. days marked by reduced agency, heightened loneliness, but a spirit that refused to be squashed.

whilst I didn't understand a word, I did understand the feeling. perhaps because this has been a year of its own kind of reduced agency, exhaustion, and hope that felt like a rather fragile lol-type thing to hold on to.

and yet....the tiny little flame in my silly belly was tough to blow off.

maybe those songs were partly that. it's not the absence of constraint, but the refusal to let constraint have the final word.

@deepikasethii & @rajan_sethi - we inadvertently met in this very courtyard years ago, over a jamun picante. rather fitting and full circle-ish to find ourselves here again, experiencing this together 🤍

even if I got my period right before dessert.

#AsiaSpecial | Almaty could well be the setting of Bible’s ‘Garden of Eden’, abundant as it is in lush green spaces and wild apple trees.

@thatdoggonelady maiden visit made her fall in love with the city. She takes us through its rich history and culture, a fascinating array of food, and a diverse and breathtaking landscape. There are parks on every corner, a wide variety of cuisines on offer, art galleries hidden away in basements, walking streets bustling with karaoke, and bathhouses to ease all aches and pains.

In addition, the Kazakhi people are a friendly bunch, particularly towards Indians – many grew up watching Bollywood films and will speak a few Hindi words or sing old songs, like actor Mithun Chakbraborty’s Jimmy Jimmy, she finds.

The favourite part of the city: the metro stations. Almaty Metro’s stations are a piece of art. They are the epitome of the city: unexpected, and beautiful.

Once again, we are so grateful for the overwhelming response to Breakfast at Casa Pinto this Sunday. 🤍

When @celizpinto and I decided to start this experience, we wanted it to be about more than just breakfast. We wanted to create a wholesome, unhurried experience in a heritage setting. A place where people could share slow mornings, good food, laughter, and meaningful moments with the people they love.

We feel incredibly blessed to say that it’s becoming exactly that. And it’s all thanks to each and every one of you who has supported us and helped us build this little breakfast tradition.
