Small following, major impact. Your story doesn't end here.
You deserve a voice. You deserve to find community.
You deserve to succeed. And we will learn to overcome 💪

The opposite of a "highlight reel" instamom 😅😅😅

My kid's growing up knowing Mom was ND and that self regulation comes first ✨aaaaaaand that it's okay to peace out of social obligations if it's gonna trigger overwhelm later
Aaaaaaaaaaaaand that we don't need to apologize for putting our needs first ✌️✨

Do we need to curb our consumerism? YES 🫠🫠
Do we need to donate every single thing that doesn't spark joy in one tiny moment of your life? Absolutely not.

I grew up with a single parent and an addicted parent.
One half of my life was provided for through lots of hard work and generational systems of wealth.

The other was pure determination and luck.

I was told to always buy quality. To buy for future uses. To sit on it and go back if I knew it belonged in my life.

I used to rid myself and my life of anything I was no longer interested in- that no longer felt like it "belonged" or represented who I was

And now, I miss those clothing items and family heirlooms I discarded all because I thought I was doing the right thing by shedding extensions of myself I no longer agreed with or approved of

When I was at my thinnest, I no longer had clothing to fit me when I gained the weight back after resolving my need to control my body

It became that instead of having *things* representing moments of my life, I had waves of time where I was surrounded by emptiness, or worse:

Surrounded ONLY by things that represented my current beliefs or fixation

What I yearn for now are to hold onto treasures that remind me of both the good and the uncomfortable. The joyful and the sad

And to instead find places where these pieces belong- perhaps they no longer belong in the now

Perhaps they are best kept in a box, waiting to be discovered by my child when they ask about their bio dad

So I can pull out the China set we were gifted for our engagement and explain our family's dynamic

Or gift a box of their parents' clothing and school work that I held onto so my child has an opportunity to hold a piece of their bio parent if they choose

Or to open the box of mismatched vases and platters and display them so I am reminded of the joy in interruption of routine

Perhaps it isn't about waging a war against "clutter,"

Instead it is about sitting with our discomfort and housing those cluttered emotions for a time we are ready to explore them

//

But also literally, stop donating garbage to people in need
Like, stop it now. Just toss it.

I was there. I was done. Then exactly 3 years after falling to the floor ready for life to be over... I said "I love you" to the person who found me just as my life was starting ✨

Did my partner magically change my life?
No (but also yes)

Did *I* magically change my life?
Also no

It took:
⚡Medication
⚡Therapy
⚡Support groups
⚡Immediate intervention

⚠️You don't make great choices while at rock bottom⚠️

You start to doubt & hate yourself
You lose your grip on reality
I didn't feel like I could trust anyone

I needed to admit a lot of painful truths,
one being that I needed to rebuild my community...
(And then reach out and lean on them)

When Link was born, I had to face
💔PTSD from a stillbirth 1 yr prior
💔Single Motherhood
💔Post Partum Depression
💔Letting go of a spouse who spiraled into addiction

It was overwhelming. Anyone facing that alone could easily be consumed/want to end it. I know I did

After 3 long years of healing and learning how to trust others, I finally met J, my (now) spouse

He is part of my community
I've set/maintained boundaries with him as I do with my friends/family

It's one of the ways I've found a feeling of "safety" and "comfort" in my relationship.. bc I still find THE MOST comfort in dangerous, negative relationship dynamics and I don't want that ever again

Did he come in and save me like some damsel in distress? Nope

He let's me mess up and offers a safe space for apologies and repairing our relationship

👀 👀 anyone who acts like they can save you is most likely LOVE BOMBING you and it's a RED FLAG 🚩🚩

As a new mom I was so scared to ask for help; to let go and trust after being hurt so many times before

But I did and it's gotten me this far

I won't stop reaching out now

It's okay to admit you are struggling,
especially to those who are asking to support you 💕

Side note: the doctor who told me "you have a kid, so you don't need medication because you have a purpose now" was wrong 🚩🚩🚩

Any chronic fatigue/PTSD/Freeze/Fawn warrior babes here?!
Chronically exhausted because THIS is what I'm dealing with ALL👏DAY 👏LONG👏 GANG ✌️👋

Some days it feels like no matter how many breaths I take, the anxiety still questions *every*little*thing*I*do* 🙃🙃🙃
(Like I know it'll be fine but if that voice could stfu pls and ty)

It's fair, considering most of my history revolves around not being able to trust my surroundings. But sometimes it would be nice to keep a positive thought in my mind, without it being challenged by my brain chemistry 😅
