Connecting strangers though letter writing ✍️

My lovely friend @adoreaday.post gave me this beautiful box of letter-writing materials and suggested starting a letter chain.

It became such a special part of the offline stays. Each person who took part was connected through their letters, even if they never met, because they’d all shared the same experience: going fully offline in my woodland cabin.

This week was very busy! We hosted a wonderful person😍 from Monday until today, and she visited two villages with us to meet local people and experience the daily life of Malagasy people. We met people from 3 differents country as well when we went to Carion last wednesday. It was a week full of experiences, meaningful exchanges, and love.
That being said, we will be delighted to welcome you to experience rural life with our team!"🥰

Three consecutive years of receiving this award for our four-year-old baby. Yet somehow, each year, it means a little more.

This last year especially has been a challenging one.

The world of travel is changing every day. Geopolitics, natural calamities, economic ups and downs... every occurrence creates a ripple effect. At the start of every year, we make a calendar, a plan, a vision. And then the world comes along and rewrites parts of it.

But through all of that, we’ve been focused on how to rebuild in the face of the unknown. We’ve kept asking ourselves, what more? Which destination deserves to be discovered? Would travellers take a long road journey for the promise of a hidden spot? Would they be curious enough to visit places they’ve barely heard of? Would they understand why we’d choose a different experience in a destination everyone thinks they already know?

Time and again, you’ve answered those questions for us.

You’ve shown us that if we’re curious for more, you are too.

And somewhere between 2 a.m. walks in unfamiliar countries, holding a stranger’s hand before stepping into the water despite your aquaphobia, laughing till your stomach hurt, or finally finding the courage to share a story you’d buried for years with people you’d met just days ago, something beautiful happened. Strangers became friends. Sometimes, family.

To every person who’s chosen to trust us, thank you.

Every time someone joins a trip and says, “My friend travelled with you and told me I had to experience this,” we smile. No, we beam. Some things never lose their magic. Some things remind us exactly why we started.

Here’s to many more adventures, unfamiliar roads, conversations, teary goodbyes, warm hugs, and memories we’ll carry long after the trip ends.
