FRIDAYS W/ NIX - EPISODE 10

This morning I officially shifted my “best month” power rankings.

1. October
2. March

The weather this month is the reason for the shift. The morning’s have been setting the tone each day, and add in the colors changing, football, Halloween coming up .. the best!

What’s your favorite month?

I’m challenging myself to embrace each day and season that we are in. I’ve found myself looking forward to the next season or weather change far too often.

Have a great Friday ✌🏼

FRIDAYS W/ NIX - EPISODE 9

When @harveyjmartin tells you there’s no excuse to not find nature, you find it.

I’ll never forget that conversation we had years ago. Since then, I make it a point to embrace it as much as I can. @thatsaunaclub provides that perfect opportunity - the shores of Lake Michigan on a crisp October morning - the best.

It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day, the screen time, etc.

What do you do to ensure you’re embracing everything nature has to offer?

*Quick note as I stated in the video: if you’re interested in attending Rate’s @_thewellnessretreat_ tomorrow at Northerly Island, let me know! It’s health and wellness focused with music mixed in. @elderbrook will perform a sunset set at 5:30 - @chrischelios7 will be there speaking - @gabbybernstein will also be there + many more speakers and fitness classes. It’s going to be a beautiful fall day on the shores of Lake Michigan!

Have a great Friday ✌🏼

A quick trip to Chicago means you have to maximize your time. Made an effort to see as many of the Abengers as I could. 🤣

With it being Filipino American History Month, spending time with all these amazing people (and still missing quite a few) really proves that true family and friends can withstand the test of time, no matter what.

This is what community looks like. No bullshit, no fake people.

Olivia’s relationship with swimming continues to evolve as she works toward LA28.

After surgery for appendicitis revealed an umbilical hernia earlier this summer, she’s been rebuilding her core through elemental healing and physical therapy, restoring a foundation she’s eager to build on.

Mindfulness and meditation have become as much a part of that journey as the time she spends in the pool in this new chapter of training.

This Saturday, we’re not just working out.
We’re working through.

August is a threshold. Between 2 Eclipses at that!

Summer is beginning to wind down. Routines are shifting. Kids are heading back to school. Work is picking up. And whether we realize it or not, we’re carrying a lot of transition into what comes next.

So this Saturday, we’re creating space to actually process it.

Through yoga, intentional movement, breath, meditation, journaling and sauna, we’ll explore:

What am I ready to leave behind from this summer?
What have I been carrying that I no longer need?
What do I want to bring with me into this next season?
And how do I want to feel as I move into it?

Because at Firefly, the workout is only part of the experience.

We use movement to get underneath the noise—to move through what’s been stored in the body, create clarity, reconnect to our inner spark, and intentionally choose what comes next.

Come work out what you’re ready to work through.

Saturday, August 22 | 8:15 AM

What are you ready to work through—and release?

This Saturday morning, we’re taking our practice beyond simply “working out.”

We’ll meet by the water and begin with intentional movement designed to help you get out of your head and into your body.

Then we’ll slow down.

We’ll meditate.
We’ll journal.
We’ll notice what’s been taking up space—stress, emotion, uncertainty, pressure, whatever you’ve been carrying.

And then we’ll take it into the sauna and let it go.

This is the Firefly Process: using movement, stillness and intentional recovery to work through what we’re experiencing—not just work out our bodies.

✨ Yoga + intentional movement
✨ Guided meditation + journaling
✨ Sauna experience by the water
✨ Connection + community

Saturday, August 22 | 8:15 AM
Evanston lakefront

Come exactly as you are. Leave a little lighter.

Space is limited. Link in bio and at the bottom of the page to reserve your spot.

What are you really working out?

We use that phrase all the time.

But somewhere along the way, “working out” became almost entirely about the physical — how our bodies look, how strong they are, how fast they move, what we can change about them.

I’ve always experienced movement differently.

For me, the real workout is often what I’m working through.

Everything we carry into that moment — the stress, the noise, the conversations, the questions, the experiences we haven’t fully processed. The things we’ve stored, pushed past or tried to move around.

And then we move.

The body has a way of bringing things to the surface.

We breathe. We feel. We notice. We work through. And sometimes, we come out the other side understanding ourselves — and our story — a little differently.

The shift inside shifts the outside.

That idea has become a much bigger part of what we’re building at Firefly.

Because I don’t believe wellness should be confined to a workout, a studio or even a single wellness experience.

I believe it can be cultivated within the places and experiences that shape our lives.

In the buildings where we live and work.
At retreats and resorts.
Within clubs and communities.
At events and summits.
Across large-scale festivals and cultural experiences.
And yes, one person at a time.

The scale may change, but the intention doesn’t:

How do we create experiences and environments that help people feel their best, know themselves better and access more of their full potential?

Because when we feel better and understand ourselves more deeply, it changes what becomes possible on the other side.

How we create.
How we work.
How we lead.
How we connect.
How we love.
How we live.

This is the evolving Firefly Process.

And this Saturday, August 22 at 8:15 AM, we’re creating an intimate expression of it with Wellness by the Water.

We’ll begin with movement — not simply to work out, but to work through. Then meditation and journaling to listen to what surfaced. And finally, sauna as an opportunity to release, reset and make space for what comes next.

Because wellness isn’t just something we do.

It shapes how we experience everything else.

What’s your story?

We talk a lot about working out.

But I think we’ve lost the meaning of the words.

What are you actually working through?
What are you trying to work out of your system?

Because movement isn’t only physical.

We carry things into our bodies every day—stress, emotion, uncertainty, frustration, experiences we haven’t fully processed. And when we move, those things have a way of coming to the surface.

That’s where the real work begins.

Next Saturday, August 22 at 8:15 AM, Firefly is collaborating with Sauna Club for a special experience built around this process.

We’ll begin with movement—using the body to work through what we’ve been carrying.

Then we’ll move into meditation + journaling to slow down, listen, and understand what came up.

And finally, we’ll step into the sauna—to sweat, release, and leave a little lighter than we arrived.

MOVE → REFLECT → RELEASE

This isn’t just a workout.
It’s an opportunity to work something through and out.

Space is limited. Grab your spot through the link is in the bio
