4 months. Time to let some feelings out I guess.
It’s never easy, but sharing is caring right? So here we are.

Life has been crazy!
Nothing was planned (obviously), I just kept following the flow… and ended up spending almost two months in Ericeira. Saying goodbye to one of the most unexpected, wholesome, crazy family was honestly heartbreaking. Different roots, ages, stories… but somehow we just fit perfectly! Miss you guyss🥹 (the breakfasts, foosball, and deep naps trying to watch movies… everything).

But it was time to move on for everyone.
Landing in a new place felt like going back to the gym after a long break: painful and disorienting. Solo travelling (or whatever I’m doing) isn’t always sunsets, hikes, fun and good vibes… But okay, most of the time it actually is 😂

And then, life always has something cooked for you: new room, new faces, new energies (a crazy storm, the biggest blackout ever, a new front door lock with no new key, huge brunches, fat laughs (and of course, some tears too), dancing, looong voice notes, late-night shows, weird cooking experiments, emotional talks, fights with the dryer, fireflies… and sooo much else!)
Always a rollercoaster.

Running a business abroad is so much harder. I try, fail, get tired, start again. I’m just trying to take it one day at a time: learning, improving and keep asking looots of questions. 
Do I miss home? Of course I do, especially when I don’t even know what’s keeping me here. But someone told me: when the toothpaste seems finished, it’s never really empty. So I’m squeezing it to the last drop (perchè non si butta via niente!😅) to see what Portugal still has for me, I guess I’m not done yet. (Also because my Portuguese is still stuck at “obrigada”, gotta work on that!😂)

But in the end, what matters most are still the stories, the people: I’m super grateful for everyone I’ve met along the way (especially the ones who’ve chosen to stay truly present and supportive, whether from close or far!)💛

This weekend I’m doing my first market in Lisbon, it’s kind of a big thing for my next step. So yes, I need all your support!

Tag a friend you'd go out with and pick some trash. Goncalo was always on fire when I hiked the coast of Portugal and pushes me in times I wanted to give up. A bit overmotivated, he started to pulling this tired for about 2 km! Here is a secret from a professional trash picker: It's about awareness as it's too much trash out there and we need to tackle root causes before we can possibly clean up everything. So it's amazing that Goncalo had this commitment to pull the tire, but almost no-one around seen it as of the empty beach. So the pro-trick of trash influencing is to pick trash when you're surrounded by people. That's how we influence and start discussions. But anyways, one tire less and a fun video produced!

How to be lifted by a truck on the beach while singing an awareness song?! Well, head over to YouTube to watch the documentary movie of The Plastic Hike. A 1152km hiking adventure along the entire coast of Portugal to meet environmentalists to monitor the beaches for plastic, sing and chat about solutions. Today, you get to know @anagoslowly who is already a zero waste living legend (unperfect zero waste of course 🙃) in Portugal. And how funny is this?! We ended up being both ambassadors for the zero waste online shop @mindthetrash! Check out alternatives for you! A family grew also via the plastic hike!

Going through my gDrive folder is a blast and gives me goosebumps when I get reminded of the generosity and kindness of people , I met along my 1152 km hike along the coast of Portugal.. here I got saved from Ilha Deserta by film crew @camerawithnoname , Crew Legend @thatsmileyguy and with the support of NGO @quercus_ancn_ - and we even had a wonderful check up and lecture about the seahorse population in #riaformosa . This is one of so many moments. The song was created weeks before when I hiked along Guincho and made a clean up with @sailorsfortheseaportugal .land a wonderful song brainstorm with @beachingaaround ! Songs and good mood were travelling constantly with me to raise awareness with positivity and creativity for the ocean.

Oh what's there? A new awareness project?! 🚲 The Trash Cycle! 🚲 ~3000 km around Portugal with an old bicycle that I still have to refurbish 3 weeks before the tour! Mark the 22nd of April - cycle and/or clean with me all around Portugal! All this without buying a single use water bottle and refill everywhere my reusable!

Watch again The Plastic Hike adventure in the story highlights of this instagram account: A 1132 km long #hiking adventure along the entire coast of Portugal with +500 people and more than 80 NGOs, environmentalists and initiatives. An awesome adventure in which 1,6 tons of plastic got cleaned but it was never about cleaning. Only to raise awareness with a community.

O Andreas mudou de vida o ano passado para abraçar o seu propósito, saiu do seu emprego como consultor de biologia molecular e iniciou o seu projeto @thetrashtraveler

Andreas changed his life last year to embrace his purpose, quit his job as a molecular biology consultant and started his @thetrashtraveler.

His mission is to sensitize society about the excessive consumption of plastic and its impact on the ocean, through a walk along the entire Portuguese coast, to collect trash on the beaches with lots of music and contagious energy.

Last summer, during his stay in Sesimbra, we invited Andreas and his team, to dive with us on a water trail.

Our connection was immediate, we felt that we all share the same mission - to promote the awakening of ecological awareness in a joyful, accessible and experienced way.

Next June, Andreas will release the documentary ‘The Plastic Hike’, where he tells all about this adventure!

It is a great joy and great honor to have Andreas Bode as Ambassador for the Atlantis Program!

Soon, we will meet again in the sea of Arrábida, in a dive of the Atlantis Program! 🤿

🔥Release of the next project arm of The Plastic Hike!🔥 We gathered artists who will transform the 1,6 tons of plastic that got collected with the help of 560 people and +100 organisations on "The Plastic Hike" last year along the 832km long coast of Portugal. Thanks to you all again! Check out stories for updates and presentations! All pieces will be brought together in Lisbon in one exhibition. All this to confront as many people with the plastic pollution issue to rethink our over consumption habits and to find solutions for a sustainable world.
