Happy New Year! In 2026, we encourage you to dive deeper into your practice. Maybe that means creating new work, finally sharing your work (dust it off...we want to see it!), joining a cohort, applying for that grant, or even taking a step back to regroup. Whatever your path is, we’re happy you’re on it.

Here’s a helpful start! The BIC Artist Plug, January edition. Your monthly drop of grants, open calls, fellowships, residencies, jobs opportunities, and creative resources for Black storytellers. Curated by Black Image Center to keep our creative community tapped in. 😎

'Deewaron ka zawaal' depicts discoloration, erasure and evolution of walls within a domestic space over a course of time. Home reshapes itself with the passing of time, quietly embracing the abstract process of erasure and the slow disappearance of domestic spaces.

We are the trace of what was never whole.

Order Meets Complexity: Threshold of Absence transforms a century-old Sikh-era ruin into intricate geometries of memory. Through repetition, mirroring, and symmetry, its fragments—arches, brick, plaster, grass, and hens—become layered patterns shaped by the site’s shifting rhythms. The hens wander as silent witnesses, carrying echoes of rural memory into the suburban present. More than documentation, the series activates the ruin, drawing architecture, nature, and memory into deliberate dialogue.

We are the trace of what was never whole.
Exhibition curated by Ahmed Umer.

The show opened on Friday, August 29th and will remain on view until September 3rd at @thatstudiopk_, a tucked-away space in Lahore where the city quietly reveals another side of itself.

Thank you to everyone who came through, supported, and shared your energy with us. And a big thank you to Ahmed for this wonderful opportunity and for putting together such a beautiful show.
