Humanoid robots joined 120 human dancers on stage at the 2026 WorldSkills Competition opening ceremony in Shanghai.

The 20 robots, each standing 1.8 meters tall and weighing 80 kg, performed street dance and waltz alongside the dancers. They even took part in coordinated movements and embraces, which require precise timing, balance, and control.

The performance was part of a show called “Light of the Future,” bringing humans and machines together on one stage.

Moving in sync with people is a different challenge from walking alone, especially when the robots have to coordinate close movements with human partners.

Coffee and contemplation just hits differently when your car drives itself.

The Tesla Cybercab is a two seat electric robotaxi designed to drive without a steering wheel or pedals.

It uses cameras and AI software to navigate roads, handle traffic, and take passengers to their destinations.

The idea is to turn travel time into personal time, whether that means checking your phone, enjoying a coffee, or simply relaxing while the car handles the drive.

Tesla is rolling out its Robotaxi service in limited areas as it works toward wider adoption.

Geoffrey Hinton believes the next major phase of AI development could arrive much sooner than many expect.

His concern is recursive self-improvement, AI systems are increasingly being used to improve other AI systems, from writing better software to helping design the chips that future models run on.

If that process accelerates, Hinton worries AI development could become harder for humans to monitor and control, warning that things could get significantly worse within one or two years.

But that timeline is not a certainty. Hinton is offering his assessment of the risk, and researchers still disagree over whether rapid recursive improvement will happen at all.

The bigger concern isn’t simply an AI that becomes smarter. It’s an AI ecosystem where the tools improving AI are themselves becoming increasingly automated.
