Exhibition o’clock means us being silly! Had a lovely day pre launch of Folk, the new Juice Studios group exhibition at the Pier St pop up space just off Humber St. Loads of vibrant and interesting work in a huge range of disciplines. Shout out to @josephjcox & @esthercawley for their hardwork and graft, and everyone involved in the exhibition. And it was fab to work with @curiosityhull again and chat to @the.anna.log & @john_dearing_printmaker! I obviously had to get my puppet in there too. Obvs had to bookend this reel with me and Rachel being silly. More to come from the exhibition soon! It’s on for a week so go see it! P.S I don’t recommend the Juno pose in a moving car. I’m a trained professional. Design by @mat_taylor 🖊️

I was delighted to see this by the amazing Anna Farley, whose work is as delightful as they are. Do go see it & use the space at Tate St Ives - it's yours after all! A sensory masterwork full of interesting details & delicious thoughts & ideas inviting experimentation & play, relaxation & quiet if you want it, noise cancelling headphones are provided. Some great reading materials inside too! You could happily lose a few hours in here...👏🏻 👉Follow @the.anna.log Here is the text from outside: ANNA FARLEY YOUR SPACE Welcome to Your Space, an evolving experimental environment for rest and learning by artist Anna Farley. It is open to all. Farley is an autistic artist whose work explores her autism, UK disability culture, and inclusion. Proposing that museums apply the same care to the comfort of their publics as they do to art objects, Farley imagines new possibilities for what inclusive provisions could or should exist. Farley's second version of Your Space is inspired by the artist, writer and occultist Ithell Colquhoun (1906-1988), who was based in Cornwall in her later life. Colquhoun moved between the worlds of surrealism and magic, employing philosophies from around the world. Her influence shows in the colours, textures and shapes of Your Space. On the walls, Farley has borrowed surrealist automatic processes used by Colquhoun to make art without conscious thought. The fluid diagram on the floor alludes to the Kabbalistic Tree of Life and the chakra colours of Hindu Tantra, key reference points for Colquhoun. Your Space features resources made by Farley and others. These include cushions designed with community groups, responding to and representing the comfort needs of a range of people that may use the space. You are invited to rest, read, listen, play, and get comfy. It's your space. Anna Farley, Your Space 2026 Farley was born in Bangor, Wales in 1989 and lives in Hull, England Curated by Georgina Kennedy, Curator, Communities and Cassie Penn, Assistant Curator, Communities. #community #autism #kabbalah #YourSpace

ST IVES | Whilst recently in St Ives, I finally got to visit Anna Farley’s ‘Your Space’ at @tatestives which Anna had told me much about! It is an evolving experimental environment for rest and learning, open to all. It’s filled with many sensory objects, lots of comfortable seating and a little set of rocks that my partner loved attempting to stack up without falling over. Everything from the colour choices, the layout, the wall image decorations have been carefully considered to enable anyone to rest, play, get comfy - do what you like really. This second version was inspired by the Tate’s recent Ithell Colquhoun exhibition. It’s very well considered and I’d love to see more of these things in British museums and galleries - go on Anna! For CONTAINER WORKS @the.anna.log is presenting a growing collection of Wellbeing Drawings which will change over time. As Anna’s regular practice of drawing evolves and new drawings are made, the display in the wall vitrine will change, reflecting the pliable and bending nature of Anna’s work. Anna’s Wellbeing Drawings always start with a membrane around the shape. By colouring inside the lines, Anna creates an anatomy of unintentional, organic references to form. 𝟭𝟴/𝟬𝟱/𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 - 𝗢𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 continues until Wednesday 30 September. Bringing people together through drawing on a light and fresh Sunday morning 🫧 For Drawing Group, @the.anna.log shared their Wellbeing Drawing process with us. Encouraging free creation through form, colour, and easily accessed drawing materials, such as colouring pencils and paper, the drawing circle illuminated our earliest memories of drawing and brought to the surface the feelings we attribute with mark making and colour. Anna’s 𝟭𝟴/𝟬𝟲/𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 - 𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗚 is on display until Wednesday 30 September, and is free to visit. Anna’s Wellbeing Drawings always start with a membrane around the shape. Took a lovely trip to visit Juice Artist @the.anna.log, on her residency at @sunnybankmills. Great to hear about her work with local communities and creating sensory spaces that connect to the heritage of the building.

𝟭𝟴/𝟬𝟱/𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 - 𝗢𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 new work by Anna Farley, on display until Wednesday 30 September. Wellbeing Drawings are: Carried; Portable; Crayola; Unpredictable; Autonomy. The drawings happen when Anna is stuck, overloaded with too many thoughts, tasks, or choices. Putting pencil to paper and scratching in colour channels all of the energy – be it anxiety or confusion or excitement – into a visual map. Anna’s support and care workers make sure she has these drawings with her, or that there is plain paper and colouring pencils available. People see different things in each drawing, a little bit like cloud watching. Anna’s Wellbeing Drawings always start with a membrane around the shape. By colouring inside the lines, Anna creates an anatomy of unintentional, organic references to form. Join us on Sunday 19 July 10am - 12pm for Drawing Group, when Anna will lead us through the drawing exercises she uses in her practice. 🖍️ CONTAINER WORKS is organised by @alexanderstubbss

💛 It might just be a matter of fact, but there’s something novel that happens in group shows ~~ where none of the artworks will, in all likelihood, ever share the same space again. Yet while they do in this one, and in caring for them, I’m still uncovering new connections and resonances that whir and chime around the gallery ~~ just like these shiny, echoing bells in the work of @pheobelaw and @lauralulika (images 1-2). It’s the last couple of weeks to visit How Pleasant To Go To a Friend On a Visit!, an exhibition by Fruit Factory Guild members at Humber Street Gallery. The title is taken from a work by Hull-born poet Stevie Smith to suggest an act of gathering that is both nourishing and generous. (by happy coincidence Smith was born on my old street too). There’s more to see than in this small selection of images, come by.
