Tbh throwing ppl I don’t like into a volcano is usually my first reaction to a lot of things. And while that response can be 💯 valid, I’m not here to police the autonomy/choices of other ppl. Although the previous post where “heather” went after the wrong Winston lee hoping he gets gang 🍇 ‘ed is part of a larger problem. “Misguided rage” that perpetuates racial profiling/racism is a losing/lost battle. Also reposting a thread here about how social media/IG algorithms r functionally designed to dysregulate ur nervous system down to every mainstream - microniche topic/event available, so consider engaging accordingly.. bc the firehose of general midterm/election/global patriarchy etc misery inducing algorithmic bullshit rn is also high. Which is also partly why I deactivated IG for 6 months last year. Both videos r over 2 minutes long, accounts r tagged.

this is resource is not intended to police survivors’ (or anyone’s) feelings or rage or despair about sexual violence, it’s just meant to support our action.

when stories about sexual violence take over our feeds, many of us, including those of us who identify as abolitionists, turn to carceral logic and notice our inner cop coming out.

this makes sense, because most of us were never given the tools to think about sexual harm in any other way. and many of us experienced sexual harm before we had the language for abolition.

this is such a sensitive topic and requires care and grace for each other and ourselves, but we really and truly believe that a better world is possible. it’s impossible to create a resource that holds all the nuance and complexity.

thank you so much to all of the incredible abolitionist organizers who gave input, edits, and thoughts to this guide. we will give out printed zines at our in-person mutual aid distros (DM us for the PDF!)

ICYMI: Last week, a former Cornell student identified as Jane Doe opened a lawsuit against the Ivy League university for failing to prevent rape on campus and protect her after she was assaulted—for hours—at a frat house in 2024. She’s also suing seven Chi Pi fraternity members who she alleges drugged and raped her for hours. Tompkins County District Attorney Matthew Van Houten reopened an investigation into the incident today.

But no matter what happens, just remember: Someone in that Snapchat group—maybe even anyone in that group—could have stopped this in its tracks.

I love seeing so many survivors rally around the Cornell survivor. And I think it’s an opportunity for us to get very honest about how these processes work.

How many of us avoided litigation altogether because of the people that hurt us? Because those people are protected by wealth, by power, by influence.

Just because a lawyer is being paid on contingency does not mean this process isn’t built to exhaust survivors in every aspect of the word. Our support should also include financial support so that survivors can be autonomous.

I am begging. If you’re on Threads, please engage with my pinned post on my alt account @the.complex.rebel 🙏🏻🥹🫶🏻 I spent a year growing my audience over 50,000 people. I posted nearly every day and made threads my primary focus. I took much needed time off for my own health and genuinely for the safety of others. If we are not able to take care of ourselves doing this work, how on earth is it meant to be sustainable?

No one is saying these people deserve a medal for doing the right thing. But a lot of people that I know even personally went into tech as a kid out of college. They liked to build stuff and found themselves in careers 20 years later, realizing that what they were building was hurting people.

Choosing to do the right thing costs something. Most of the money they made is going back into legal fees to protect themselves from the very same companies that they are blowing the whistle against.

You don’t personally have to support a particular whistleblower. But to join in with the same companies these people are trying to blow the whistle against BECAUSE they share information that the public explicitly does not have access to by publicly bashing them ONLY BENEFITS THISE COMPANIES.

Who does it help?
How does that help the movement towards liberation that you are fighting for?
How does that help your cause at all?
Or does it just make you feel good?

If you have no idea what it’s like to work at these companies, and ESPECIALLY if you have no idea what it’s like to speak out against these companies after working there…

How many times do I have to submit a selfie video? How many times do you need to see my passport my drivers license? Would you prefer to see my birth certificate? My vaccination record? My marriage license, my divorce decree what do you need and what the hell are you doing with all of my personal data when you aren’t reactivating my account?

The research is not subtle: organizations that punish people raising problems, have blind spots. Ask NASA how that worked out in 1986.

Naming a problem IS a contribution. It’s the first one. You are not required to arrive with the solution to deserve being heard.

Everyone wants to talk about the scary robot. 🤖
I want to talk about the moneyy. 🤑

The same handful of companies sit on multiple sides of the AI economy: financing the buildout, supplying the infrastructure, benefiting from the spending, and carrying enormous valuations tied to expectations that the spending continues.

AI creates cyber risk for the financial system, and of course that is worth talking about. But so is the financial system we’ve built around AI.

Because when the asset, the financier, the infrastructure, and the concentration risk keep pointing back to the same few companies…

THE SYSTEM IS THE RISK.
