Fraud prevention depends on how quickly banks can identify risks and act on them.

In this episode of Bureau Bytes, Prashant Mehra, Group Head, hdfcbank , speaks with Govindraj Ethiraj of the.core.in about strengthening fraud prevention in a landscape shaped by social engineering, mule accounts, and increasingly sophisticated fraud schemes.

He highlights three priorities:

Behavioral analysis: Detecting transactions that deviate from established customer patterns.

Ecosystem collaboration: Sharing fraud indicators across banks, telecom providers, and other stakeholders to identify risks earlier.

Human intervention: Reaching customers at critical moments, especially when they are targeted by digital arrest scams.

These priorities also underscore the importance of detecting suspicious activity before funds move through mule accounts. By combining early detection with timely intervention and cross-industry collaboration, banks can respond faster and strengthen customer protection.
