I’ve been trying to find the words for this one, but honestly, I don’t really know where to start.

I was 26 when I first walked into The Observatory in 2017. I was on holiday in HCMC with friends to see Ouissam play at OBS number 2 in D4 for the weekend. Little did I know that a few months later I’d run into Dan again at Savage in Hanoi, we’d fall in love, and not long after that I’d quit my job, scrape together every penny I had and move from Hong Kong to Vietnam to invest in a nightclub with a man I’d been dating for about five minutes, as you do.

And somehow, here we are, nine years later.

Since 2018, The Observatory has been such a huge part of my life. I’ve had the privilege of building this thing alongside Dan, working with hundreds of incredible artists, listening to thousands of hours of music and dancing my way through more sunrises than I can count.

But when I think about what OBS means to me, it’s never really just been about the music or the parties. It’s about the people. The ones who became so much more than friends, who have seen us through some of the best and hardest years of our lives, and who became our family here.

OBS has been our home in Vietnam. It’s where I’ve grown up, made some of the closest relationships of my life, and watched so many different worlds come together under one roof. It’s been messy, beautiful, exhausting, ridiculous, rewarding and everything in between.

It’s hard to put into words what it feels like to close a chapter so intertwined with your life and the person you’ve become. Eight years is a long time, and I don’t think I’ll ever fully be able to explain what this place has given me.

So for now, just a very big thank you. To the artists, the dancers, the staff, the friends, the familiar faces and the ones who came through just once. You’ve all been part of what made this place what it was.

What a privilege it’s been. What a life it’s been.

Forever grateful for this place and everything that came with it. ❤️

Edition 38 will be our last party at the place we’ve called home for the past five years: The Observatory. When Liminal Dreams branched out to Vietnam, OBS was a natural match and the perfect setting for our parties. Many Sundays passed, many smiles shared, many friends invited and made. Close to 40 editions, in all shapes and forms, and we want to thank every one of you: the dancers, the artists, the sound technicians, the staff and the OBS crew. It’s been a wonderful ride, and there’s one last rollercoaster to go.

Joining us is a long line-up of the guests we’ve loved having over these five years. Too many to name, and every one of them too valuable to leave out. Come for one last round. Toss and Youss will be there, with many others. There’ll be melancholy in the air, joy too, and everything in between. Long live the Observatory!
