He is the co-creator of multiple award-winning children’s shows, including Cool School and Nursery Rhymes for Kinder Times, collaborating with Raffi, Laurie Berkner, Elmo, and other legends.
Alongside his wife, Catherine, Dan has worked on projects with Alex Edelman, Kenny Ortega, Jordan Roth, and Alan Menken. He has written, illustrated, animated, and voiced characters for CollegeHumor, Cracked, McSweeney’s, Sesame Street, HarperCollins, Fox, Disney, DreamWorks, Nickelodeon, Hasbro, Mattel, and more.
Once upon a time, his short films played at international film festivals. These days, you can find him on the playground with his two daughters, drawing on the floor with chalk.

YOUR MOM: Back to School Edition
September 26th - 7:30PM
The Player Agency at The Baird

Storytellers, musicians, and life-long class clowns, our mothers bring unforgettable characters to every school year. From first-day drop-offs to PTA moments, school highlights family dynamics.

Comedian Sara Brown hosts Your Mom: Back to School Edition, a live variety comedy show about humor as a coping mechanism, especially with mothers. We revisit school memories and unpack the jokes.

Guest artists perform stand-up, songs, or stories about their mothers through the lens of school—hilarious, heartfelt, or mildly unhinged. After each performance, they discuss the jokes with resident therapist Elissa Kozlov, PhD.

Yes, It’s comedy.
Yes, it’s therapy
Yes, it’s live.

The audience laughs, squirms, and recognizes their own dynamics.

We invite a brave audience member to share their school-related mom story and receive a short live “mini-session.”

Your Mom: Back to School Edition celebrates mothers who packed lunches, signed report cards, and shaped us. It’s a night of comedy, catharsis, and collective unpacking.

Meet our Guests!

Juliana Carr Lombardo wears many hats: singer, songwriter, storyteller, and folk song aficionado among them. Whether appearing as a solo troubadour, a duo with her spouse Paul, performing original songs alongside puppets for “Porto Domi” (The New Hazlet Theatre, PGH), or interpreting the beloved songs of Joni Mitchell with dancers and a band for “BLUE” (The Living Gallery, BKYLN), Juliana captivates with her passionate authenticity and shimmering vocals. Beyond the stage, Juliana is a devoted mama and a music educator, leading classes for the smallest musicians and their caregivers. She is dedicated to building community through singing and currently offers Mini Music Box classes at The Baird.

Meet our guests!
Kate Nichols is a stand-up comedian who has performed for the US Army with the USO, opened for Chris Gethard, Greg Stone, and Bethany Hall, and is a regular with Don’t Tell Comedy. She performs regularly at NYC comedy clubs and was recently featured in the RISE Comedy Festival in Denver. Kate is known for sharing hilarious musings about her interesting family and leaving audiences feeling better than when they walked in. She also happens to be a licensed therapist and believes comedy and mental health work are both ways for us to feel more connected and make sense of our experiences. One way or another, she’s gonna make you feel better!

Storytellers. Musicians. Life-Long Class Clowns.

Every school year comes with a cast of unforgettable characters: teachers, classmates—and, of course, our mothers. From first-day drop-offs and packed lunches to forgotten permission slips, impossible science projects, and embarrassing PTA moments, school has a funny way of bringing family dynamics into sharp focus.

Comedian Sara Brown hosts Your Mom: Back to School Edition, a live variety comedy show built on a simple premise: humor is often how we cope with complicated relationships—especially with our mothers.

Guest artists will perform a stand-up set, song, or story about their mommy dearest through the lens of school. After each performance, they’ll sit down with resident therapist Elissa Kozlov, PhD, for an on-stage conversation that gently (and sometimes mischievously) explores what might be hiding beneath the punchlines.

Yes, it’s comedy.
Yes, it’s therapy.
Yes, it’s live.

We’ll close the night by inviting one brave (and entirely voluntary) audience member to share their own school-related mom story and receive a short live “mini-session.”

Your Mom: Back to School Edition is a night of comedy, catharsis, and collective unpacking—celebrating the mothers who packed our lunches, signed our report cards, and shaped us in ways we’re still figuring out… one school story at a time.
