We Didn’t Start the Fire 🔥

Did you know that it took a relentless 45-year campaign to enact Medicare in 1965? As a profession, dietitians were unfortunately left out, and that exclusion has long impacted our compensation.

Fast forward to 2002, when insurance coverage finally began for dietitians providing Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for renal and diabetes care. This milestone didn’t happen overnight—it was the result of monumental education and advocacy efforts by many dedicated individuals.

I’m profoundly grateful to everyone who championed these changes. But we can’t stop here.

Our journey for fair compensation and recognition continues. The more we, as dietitians, become financially literate, solution-oriented, and engaged in public policy, the closer we get to receiving compensation that truly reflects the value we bring.

Let’s learn together. Let’s take action together. The Dietitian Money Conference is our opportunity to fuel the fire for change and empowerment.

Register today and join us on this transformative journey. Remember, early bird registration ends on Wednesday, 9/18—don’t miss your chance to save and make a significant impact.

Let’s increase dietitian pay… with collaboration, not competition!🤝

Kelan Sarnoff, MS, RDN will be speaking at the Dietitian Money Conference about how dietitians can work together to increase pay. 📈

By fostering a culture of collaboration rather than competition, dietitians can gain insights into collective strategies to advocate for fair compensation, negotiate effectively, and leverage their combined expertise for personal advancement.

So many dietitians are frustrated about the poor pay, but don’t know where to start with being an advocate.

Kelan would love to help change the narrative and give dietitians some of the tools to be better negotiators and advocates - in all areas of dietetics.

It’s time to work together! 💗

We're thrilled to recognize Kelan, KBDI Assistant Director, for being selected as the 2024 West Coast Outstanding Dietetic Educator.

ㅤ
Kelan made the information fun, relative, and digestible by not only lecturing, but creating activities and opportunities for engagement. I specifically remember one of her lectures where I never lost focus and my brain didn’t fatigue because each slide switched between providing information and applying the knowledge by answering questions or having a group discussion. Peers of mine would ask about the KBDI class days and were often envious of the curriculum!

ㅤ
Kelan's enthusiasm was so clear. She used to recognize our achievements on class days and share them with our colleagues. She cheered for us through our journey to celebrate with us at the end. Successful educators like Kelan not only teach you but make you enjoy the process!
ㅤ
Kelan is also the founder of The RD Coach, where she provides career coaching on resumes, job interviews and salary negotiation. Kelan's expertise in these areas has been invaluable to our interns and graduates.
