I wanted to take a moment and say a huge huge thank you to @strangemattercoffee for sponsoring our wheels and our strong arm centering tool! Lansing is so lucky to have a place like SMC in our community. Our talented in house designer @the.sadsquatch made this wonderful sign inspired by @yarnimaniac’s 🌈 🐸 and you can see it up on our glaze wall!

Highly recommend treating yourself to one of SMC’s apple fritters and maybe even sign up for a clay class because TGIF & YOLO!

Still on such a high from our Grand Opening last Friday! Thank you to all who came, and also to all that were there in spirit. The turn out was fantastic and it was so gratifying seeing you all there, mingling, noshing, shopping, and painting tiny bisqueware! I hope you all learned a little something new and that it has encouraged you to sign up for some classes!

If you haven’t checked out our class roster or considered filling out our new instructor/new class form, please do! Everything is online in the usual places. And don’t forget to consider Tiny Bit Of School for your private party and team building needs.

@the.sadsquatch planted the idea of getting a kiln solely for our own personal use. Why would we think they’d deceive us? Now we have an entirely new community clay studio 🙃

Could this Friday be the Barbenheimer of 2026? It’s both our grand opening party and the opening night of You Can See Everything! The only difference is that our event is one night only and full of fun activities and free food! Not to be missed!

We’re back again with a Free slip casting demo led by our in house slip master @the.sadsquatch ! Swing by @tinybitofwood during Thursday Clay club Oct 15 starting at 6pm to see how to pour slip into plaster molds to create these perfect forms! Also learn how to use some of the same molds as press molds to create decorative elements on your wheel thrown or hand built pieces. You can also come see what Clay Club is all about!

My first try at ceramics since undergrad! Going to @clayclub.tv has been such a delight, and @debbiecarlos is a great ceramics mentor, plus help from @the.sadsquatch! 💚 These are some of my favorite pieces I’ve made so far!

Full house, full heart 💖. We learned how to throw on the wheel, we hand built sconces, we slipcast, we glazed, we took up all the tables, we chatted about the weird and wonderful places we traveled to, we recruited some tipsy passers by, we talked about food, and plants & tomatoes & art were exchanged. Thanks for a great first night of October Clay Club !
