“My professors would kill me for even thinking this, but in her own strange way, Emma Bovary is a feminist.” We watched “Little Children” with our friend Dev Lotfi, and we’re unsettled but also… intrigued. We’ve asked this many times on the podcast, but this film really begs the question… are straight people OK? This film is a character study of modern American suburbia, but we would like to study Patrick Wilson’s… character. Wilson and Kate Winslet play stay-at-home parents (to different families) drawn to each other through a mutual need of adult companionship. Jackie Earle Haley plays Ronnie, who lives with his elderly mother (Phyllis Somerville) and was just released from prison for exposing himself to a minor. Their lives are messy, and they intersect in some messy ways, but we can’t tear our gaze away from Patrick Wilson’s bod - it’s on full display for a good portion of the movie. This movie is full of grown adults making some immature decisions, which really makes you appreciate the double meaning of the film’s title.

OUT NOW! “Passin’ the torch!” We did it, gang! It’s been so wonderful doing this show for you all and I never dreamed that I’d have to do another season and I won’t because that’s a lot of work. But never say never ! Maybe a tailend S3 recap 😉or somewhere down the line… when we want a season four, haha. @halanscott makes his grand comeback to the show to discuss what is simply the best episode of television: Valerie Gets What She Really Wants. He also gives us an early glimpse into S3 and make sure to check out his new piece over at Newsweek and his triple triumph of an interview on The Parting Shot podcast (out tomorrow&friday) where he sits down with Lisa, Dan and MPK! And stay tuned after our chat to hear all about my set visits in the fall🤯(or what I can remember from when I wasn’t dissociating)! None of this exists without @father_bankston (Nathan! Nathan!)

It’s rare to make a discovery that’s been hiding in plain sight your entire life, but that’s what happened today at @shermanoaksantiquemall. What a delightful treasure trove of vintage housewares, knickknacks and the special pieces that truly make a space feel curated and collected. It may have been my first trip to the mall, but it most certainly won’t be the last for this forever valley girl. 💃

NEW EPISODE “DROP”! Just me, myself and I giving ya’ll something to get you through before the long holiday weekend! 🧁🎧😎Join me to discuss the who’s who and what’s what so far for the new season! And later on, I perform(lol) my season three brainchild from long ago.

Also the background I chose for my graphic got me thinking… maybe Valerie will get a star on the walk of fame in this season! If not they should just put one for promotion🤭.
