No Pawn Intended is making moves! We had an awesome time today at our first chess team meeting. We still have spots available for interested boys. Mr. Tee even learned some moves from one of our youngest chess players. #chess #kidsplaychess #supportindiebookstores

We're excited to announce another opportunity for you to support one of Hampton Roads' local authors.

Join us on Saturday, September 19th at 2 pm, as Angelo Pierro Hopson, artist, educator, author, and community advocate, introduces to our community, his new book, Lanterns in the Dark: Thoughts From the Other Side of the Tracks. The novel tells the story of friendship, family, community, resilience, and redemption.

Through his writing, Angelo seeks to preserve the stories of overlooked communities while exploring the enduring themes of faith, redemption, family, identity, and the extraordinary light ordinary people leave behind.

There will be a reading, Q&A, and book signing.

All seats were filled for today's barbershop style men's discussion at The Printed Word. Meaningful discussions such as what it means to be a man, a father, and a husband in today's world. A few surprising conversations emerged, such as men expressing their feelings and how literacy helped save a lot of the men who were raised in difficult environments. A safe space for male discussions was created today and will be continuing. Be on the lookout for the next session. We'll save a seat for you. #mensmentalhealth #menstalk #safe places #supportindiebookstores
