The Camel Estuary gets its name from the river’s Cornish name “Dowr Kammel” which means “Crooked River”. See more with meneagetours.com

Camel Valley Vineyard has been producing award winning wine since 1989.
Bob and Annie Lindo planted 8000 vines in that year as they were looking at an alternative income to being a conventional farm, whilst raising their children.
They were very successful at producing high quality grapes and have won numerous awards over the years. The biggest moment came when in 2005 they were awarded an International Wine Challenge Gold Award 🥇 for their Cornish Sparkling wine.
Great praise indeed! Cheers 🥂

The beautiful location of Porthilly Church on the edge of The Camel Estuary overlooking Rock and Padstow in the distance is simply stunning even on the slightly overcast day when I visited. The church ⛪️ dates from around 1299 but was restored in 1867 giving it a Norman feel. The four holes cross situated in the churchyard is likely to be from around the 10th century and is a great example of a wheel head cross. See more with meneagetours.com

The upside of being a part time key worker is when you can experience the sights and sounds of Cornwall without the hustle and bustle of everyday life. To be able to hear the sound of the waves breaking on the beach yesterday morning was awesome. See more with meneagetours.com 🎥 @meneagetours_of_cornwall

These Christian crosses are fairly common all over Cornwall and were probably erected during Medieval times. In addition to serving the function of reiterating and reinforcing the Christian faith, they also served as way markers, especially in difficult or unmarked terrain.
The Chapel Amble Cross is a brilliant example of a “wheel headed” cross and may have marked the route to St Aldhelm Church. See more with meneagetours.com 📸 @meneagetours_of_cornwall
