About last night…

Hanging out with friends gives me the perfect opportunity to experiment and hone in on my iconic high-key flash / slow shutter speed.

I often times tell people that my subject matter is events and portraits. The truth of it is that my subject matter is light and movement. I love the interplay of light with all kinds of subjects, and often times drawn to rare and unusual lighting scenarios. My favorite part about being a photographer is bending and manipulating light and using my sensor as a canvas to paint on.

My warm welcome back to the desert was followed by the cold wind & rain of a tropical cyclone on day 3. I had a blast vending while I could & even more fun festivaling through the storm. Thanks for all the magic @joshuatreemusicfestival 🤍

Intuition and ambition running through my veins strong these days.✨
Edging into a month on these potent lands feels like nearly a lifetime at this rate. Heaps of loving gratitude to the riveting red rocks, Her flowing waters of life, the stewards who care to Her holy goodness, and the community of dancers who have taken in what I have to share with full enthusiasm, receptivity, encouragement, and loving kindness- moving it through the body and bringing that energy of transmutation into all that you do with your glimmering eyes and heartfelt actions. The support is felt and overflows from within to this wildly potent waking dream. From Yavapai Point, to Posse Grounds, and the legendary deep desert renegade spots… letting the sonic waves ripple out has been absolutely iconic.
Bless my babes (I love you) that helped to breathe life into this side quest from Unison with a prayer in tow aboard our trusty shooting star and the local bruddas and sistas that’ve shared nests of protective care. Couldn’t have brought this all to fruition without you.
Bless the feminine and all her magick.
Sedona, I love you so.🏜️💛✨

The tip of the iceberg of a beautiful, and as always, intense burn, my 7th. It was a dusty, rainy year and expectedly, many things went wrong. But I missed this place and I was here for it. Burning man is what you make it, choose your own adventure, & isn’t for everyone. If you reject the experience, it will chew you up and spit you right back out, but when you learn to embrace and surrender, that’s when the real magick & beauty of this temporary capsule of a city shine through. “It’s a playa miracle!” 🌈🃏🦓
Thank you @adrianthephotographer for being part of my journey, silly rainy mud mornings, for the reminders & lessons in presence, helping me unlearn fomo, and for these gems of photos. 🫶🏼🃏✨

This was my fifth Burning Man, but it felt like my first.

I decided just 72 hours before the burn that I'd go, and that I'd do it completely differently from how "I" usually would.

From planning months ahead to cracking a plan in 72 hours.
From a theme camp full of support to solo free camping.
From treating it like a festival to leaning into the principles the burn was built on.
From regular-life me to a curious explorer of "I," letting any version of myself be welcome.
From wanting a certain experience to wandering and seeing what's right in front of me.

It exceeded every expectation.

Not planning meant letting go of control and rolling with every move instead of fighting it. My ticket was delayed four days. My rental car pickup was a disaster. If I can't do something about it right now, I ain't sweating it. The ticket arrived (I missed multiple dust storm days because of it), and hours of calls with Hertz ended in a free upgrade to a self-driving car. Coincidence, or maybe optimism and trust pay off.

Free camping alone meant no camp mates to lean on if things got hairy. Radical self-reliance to a tee. Turns out I can trust myself.

Instead of my familiar archetypes, the caretaker and the needy receiver, I tried on the daring explorer and the resourceful magician. And wow, did they fit like a glove.

Instead of making other people's agendas my own to keep the peace, I said "no" and "see you later." If this were my last day on earth, would I spend it on anything that doesn't make me scream "hell yes"? I think not.

Sometimes it takes walking path A your whole life to realize you're ready for path B. For others, it's the reverse. Neither is right or wrong.

From this honoring of myself, something unexpected happened. My happiest self created the conditions for a shared, co-created experience. The best part wasn't the places or the experiences. It was the people, witnessing it all together. That witnessing is what makes it magical, something greater than myself. But it starts with myself.

More photos tomorrow: the happy me that contributes to, and enjoys, the happy we. #burningman #burningman2026
