This workshop introduced students to the observation of light as the foundation of visual seeing and as the primary tool of visual storytelling.

The workshop aimed to help students act on the things that annoy them. The brief? "Each of you is annoyed by something. You have possibly never done anything about it. In this session, you will build it, hold it, wear it, and hand it to someone else to try."

An interactive exercise that encouraged students to find creative possibilities in ordinary surroundings. Using references such as clouds, wet walls, stains, cracks, and textures, students interpreted random patterns and transformed what they saw into their own sketches. The session explored observation, imagination, and individual perception, showing how the same visual can lead to completely different ideas, stories, characters, or forms, depending on how each student sees the world.

Museums are time machines. Apart from being interesting places to explore and make memories with your favourite people, these are spaces that broaden our understanding of design, culture, history, and society. The workshop explored the concept of a museum visit as a mode of design education. They also simulated a museology exercise by creating museum concepts on some quirky topics.

We are happy to welcome Shantanu Mishra @the_greydient into the full-time faculty fold!

Shantanu is an artist, educator, and visual storyteller working across digital art, cinema, concept development, and worldbuilding. His practice brings together VFX, 3D design, visual culture, and experimental storytelling to explore how images can shape ideas, narratives, and future-facing design. He has contributed to international films and series, including Dune: Part Two, The Last of Us, and Nimona. He thus brings an industry-informed perspective into his teaching.

Alongside his professional work, Shantanu continues to develop an independent artistic practice rooted in speculative fiction and DIY futurism.
