Potter. It’s the end of an era.
Y’all loved her for the #potterchristmascreep, but to me, she was my Soul Dog. My first dog. My running buddy. Our adventure dog. No telling how many miles we ran, canoed, and golf-cart cruised with her. And she was a GREAT dog. I swear, you could reason with her and she was smarter than some humans. Like any heeler, she was quirky and weird and obsessive. She liked about 80% of people, and there was no rhyme or reason as to why she might not like you. If you were one of the ones she didn’t like, just know that it wasn’t you, it was her.

She was the self-appointed queen bee and ruled the house. None of the other dogs ever stood a chance getting by with doing anything sneaky as long as PQJ was around; she’d bark endlessly to “tell on them” and alert us of their shenanigans. And sometimes she’d bark endlessly just to let us know another dog had left the room without her permission. 😅

And she had a stomach of iron. The things she ate would have sent most dogs to the ER vet… but not Potter. She made it almost 15 years and somehow only ever had one stomach surgery: she ate a cat toy- swallowed it whole, wires and all. (We have never even had a cat. So.)

She was SO SMART. We knew we had met our match the weekend we brought her home. We put her in one of those five panel playpen things the first time we left her. It took her all of about 5 minutes to figure out how to shimmy herself up and over the side of it. From then on, she was always by my side…She was always up for anything, even if it was just walking to the kitchen with me to get a glass of water. She didn’t want to be left behind. A few years ago, she began to obsessively lick and scratch at my neck. For months. Apparently she could smell my thyroid tumor and was trying to tell me. The last time she did it was the morning I had surgery. Never before and never since. (cont in comments)

✨LONG LIVE 2023✨ We lived the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, and we wouldn’t have survived without our friends and church family. Thank you to everyone in this video (plus many others) for loving us through loss and grief, as well as through the Eras Tour content. 🥴😬 I’ll never be able to repay the kindness. “May these memories break our fall!” And may 2024 be the year I wear something else besides my rainbow shirt 🌈 😆. Love all y’all to the 🌙 and to 🪐.

Also, idk why I double posted so many pics, nor do I know why the pics don’t fit in the frame. Maybe 2024 will be the year I learn to edit reels. Don’t hold your breath…
