9 months ago I moved away from everything I have ever known. Right before my mom left, she handed me a frame with a picture inside that had Joshua 1:9 written on it. Every morning, I woke up and that verse was the first thing I saw.

As I reflect on the last couple of months, I realized this experience has been filled with more trials than victories. I lost relationships, was receiving an education from a place where I had little to no support, faced some very difficult situations and honestly was just struggling with the adjustment of being on my own.

But within those trials, I also gained relationships and got to the opportunity to make an impact on others. I was able to mentor and lead so many amazing young women. I also reached a lot of accomplishments and milestones in life. I started renting my first apartment, landed my first head strength & conditioning coaching position, picked up volleyball again and started playing on the club team at ETSU, started coaching club volleyball again and started my own (very) small business.

This experience has also helped me learn a lot about myself. I’ve learned to appreciate the little things in life and lean on the Lord and the people that surround me. I also learned that home is not place, it’s the people you surround yourself with.

When I think back to that frame my mom handed me, I’m reminded that no matter how hard things get He is always with me. I think sometimes God puts us in challenging places to make us lean more on him than our own understanding.

I am super thankful for the people I’ve met along the way and the relationships I’ve made. As they say, as one door closes, another opens and I am very excited for this next chapter.
