I’ve had few people ask what my theoretical EDC might be on my recent trip to Italy for extracurricular activities were I to carry anything. My mala from Chase @darkhorseclan a utility light from @olight_tactical an LV ceramic key ring fob, definitely not a pop knife courtesy of @markomacgyver a @klaruslighting flashlight for more aggressive lighting needs, and a small pocket lighter with a finger retrieval hole, so I can get it out of my pocket easier. The lighter holder was a gift so apologies for not knowing the maker. Anywho, that’s what I carried around besides mindset! ;-)

It’s no secret that I’m a history nerd! While in Venice I dug in to the history some and still learning but something I really appreciated is when Venice is at peace the Lion’s paw hold a book. When at war the Lion holds a sword. I picked up this small statue at a little out of the way store there where I had the chance to talk to a multi generational Venetian about this symbolism. The ferocity of pride still resides in the people of these former city states and they take their history seriously! The Venetians still talk about Constantinople and the Byzantine empires. And the Venetian Navy back then! It’s fascinating to me that some people learn about, and from their history and some countries try to simply cancel its history rather than learn from it!
