Thanks to all who joined me today in exploring different media and techniques alongside the beautiful drawings in the @theburrellcollection Drawing Inspiration exhibition. Entirely the vision of @nascaroline Learning and Access Curator at Glasgow Life, this unique and intimate collection of artworks has been open at timed slots and I have had the real pleasure of guiding an amazing community group this past month through drawing sessions and running 2 separate workshops It has been an absolute pleasure to meet so many enthusiastic people this past month and share my love of art, drawing materials, techniques and ways of looking and making marks. This is the stuff of life! Here’s to Novembers sessions cannot wait thanks as always to @kingakusyk for her participation, presence and kindred attitude. Real moments of intense concentration and pleasure today. It got messy, loose and wild. Perfect. Thanks also too as ever to the gracious generous soul that is @costume_detail for the loaning our Crossing Sweepers clothes. @the_mill_dundee is a treasure trove of culture, expertise, costume, cake, kilt making, glass making, theatre and more. I’m so lucky to have you in my life xx #artforall #drawing

The intangible beauty of the @the_mill_dundee provided the most delicate light and gorgeous natural textures for some preparatory shots recently for a work in progress. Vast space to hire, either perform, exhibit, make or film . #themilldundee #scottishartsvenues

Busy week of drawing at @theburrellcollection today’s session The Mindful Line was for everyone from complete beginners on I kept it pacy and offered up new techniques and media and was bowled over by everyones energy and enthusiasm for attempting new things. Real energy in the room! Thanks to @kingakusyk for bringing life to our observations and @costume_detail @the_mill_dundee for the excellent costume, was a thrill to hear the collective gasp when our very own Crossing Sweeper walked in the room. I love Bonvin’s drawing of his crossing sweeper as her composure and demeanour hold the whole composition together Her worth as a living being has been observed honestly and respectfully It’s not her job or activity Bonvin seeks to convey, but the person as an entity in her own right. Hopefully we all felt valued for our engagement today I know I felt very appreciative of everyone’s effort and concentration Also a beautiful community group session earlier in the week I feel so fortunate and grateful to be able to work in this capacity the drawings made are very special for all. #artforall #drawing #thebigdraw

Excited that lauded Costume Designer Jane Petrie is hosting a drawing morning at her beautiful @the_mill_dundee next month where she will be sharing contemporary and period fits, curated from her extensive costume collection so that attendees can explore the expression of character through clothing and movement. This is a lovely warm up session designed to introduce the upcoming Masterclass with Jane and myself in October. I will be bringing my love and knowledge of drawing to counterbalance Janes incredible costume history and technical experience Together we are excited to offer up this unique drawing experience. More details on that session to follow. In the meantime get yourself over to Eventbrite and claim your space for this wonderful drawing session. #clothedmodel #costumedesign #fashionillustration #fashiondesign #lifedrawing

This is an extraordinary opportunity to draw alongside one of the warmest, most knowledgeable Costume Designers of our time. Jane Petrie’s innate understanding of textiles, fashion, costume history and film and tv making is staggering and she carries her expertise and knowledge so lightly and with grace. If you are even just remotely interested in fashion design, illustration, styling, textile design, and would like to draw shoulder to shoulder with this utter legend then you must not miss this opportunity. There will be a follow up session in the coming weeks and I am utterly delighted to say I will be there as a counterpoint to Jane’s costume expertise, providing some general drawing support and guided drawing exercises. We are excited to be working together on this Masterclass which will be a longer session with plenty of scope to learn more about Jane’s processes as a designer for film and tv. More details to follow. But in the meantime make the most of this unique window into this costume visionary’s world. #janepetrie #costumedesign #lifedrawing #clothedmodel #themilldundee

Drawing the figure at my life drawing movement session. Each drawing captures the model performing a series of movements at different rhythms.

Drawings of Janine by @treesbitterpool. Theresa likes to kneel on the floor to sketch and works on tracing paper creating luminous sculptural works.
