Thank you @bpp60th for choosing my proposal to present my framework: Hair Ecology connects the body, the environment, culture, and the political ecosystems of hair. It is the umbrella or classification of all subjects connected to hair. And my fellowship @nbwcp campaign:

The clean beauty drive is a way to divert hazardous waste from our communities with ingredient literacy to support informed decisions relating to their hair care. Not only will the drive divert waste from our communities, it will also ignite a stronger bond between the stylist and the client, a bond that through many years has been severely damaged.

We have tools and technology we didn’t have before, that are driven by evidence based research and data, which will allow us to continue aggregating our own research for our communities needs.

An annual clean beauty drive event:

Think of it like a waste collection day for odds and ends like paint, bed frames etc, paper shredding. I think@you get the gist.

My work and purpose is to position the hairstylist as the authority not the brands, not the manufacturers. Beauty justice is not just about toxic or hazardous ingredients. It’s about repair, rebuilding, and educating ourselves and our communities. Making better choices because we no longer can make excuses for our willingness and participation in this system.

Hair is a very sensitive subject especially for Black women. It’s time to stop talking and procure solutions.

On Monday, CUNY School of Medicine's NYCenter for Advancing Translational Research and Health hosted the finale to Hype Hair, a community education series all about hair health. Hosted around NYC, the series explored the connection between environmental health, wellness, and beauty.

Attendees enjoyed a jam-packed schedule of events featuring workshops, panels, and screenings with community experts, beauty professionals, and researchers. The panels covered wellness issues that impact various communities, particularly Black communities. The level of support from the community showed why it's important to engage with our neighbors in research.

Special thanks to all who made this series possible. A number of our community engagement programs are led by Elizabeth Cohn, RN, PhD, FAAN and Keosha Bond, EdD, MPH, CHES, professors of Community Health and Social Medicine, as their team here at the school works to reduce health gaps across NYC.

Honored to guest lecture for Professor Harris’s My Crown of Glory: Exploring Hair-Based Discrimination in the Media course at American University! 🔥

Professor Harris had perfectly curated this course around her titled chapter in @laidtotheside.

I had the opportunity to introduce my framework, Hair Ecology connecting the biological, environmental, cultural, and political ecosystems of hair. We broke down how shifting from owners to 100% consumers impacts our economic power—and why building sustainable financial systems is vital for real, systemic change.

Yesterday I got to hang out with Chapter 3 @misswhitneychristopher and her amazing students. I am loving that our book is a tool for academia in colleges, hair schools, middle schools, soon all the schools. 🌸

Over years of research, observation, and writing, I came to a clear conclusion: everything in our industry connects back to Hair Ecology a framework I developed to map out the interconnected ecosystems of hair-from the biological and environmental to the cultural and political.

I am excited to introduce my framework to future Black media professionals @americanuniversity today.
