The Cox High School Surf Club expresses profound gratitude to Atlantic Park Surf for the successful execution of the second High School Surf Club event, which garnered significant success with a fully subscribed 2-hour schedule featuring seven participating high schools, specifically F.W. Cox, Kellam, First Colonial, Ocean Lakes, Princess Anne, Cape Henry Collegiate, and Norfolk Christian Academy. Special recognition is extended to Jason Borte, a pivotal partner in this initiative, for his crucial role in implementing the event. Furthermore, the club acknowledges the unwavering dedication of the Atlantic Park Surf staff, consisting of Nathan Stevens, Jimmy Daly, Aiden Kahn, and Hunter Skolnick, for their exceptional behind-the-scenes efforts. The club also expresses sincere appreciation to Waves of Renewal.org and We are VB.org, sponsoring non-profit organizations, as well as local businesses WRV, 17th Street Surf Shop, Coastal Edge, and Rock-it Surf Boards, whose generous donations facilitated funding for the next event. Additional gratitude is extended to Wiseguy Pizza for providing post-session refreshments and to Wright Coast Photography for capturing the event. Moving forward, the club’s objective is for all 11 Virginia Beach high schools and private school clubs to participate in High School Surfing. Scott’s paddle out was beautiful, felt good being with my surf family—no matter how much time passes, we always pick up right where we left off. VB will always be home🙏🥰😘

Let’s make the 1st St Jetty Surfing Memorial happen—imagine engraved rocks along the jetty with names of those we’ve loved and lost, visible only to those who surf there🌊😇💪

Long live print! SHRED Magazine holds a hallowed place in VB surfing. I believe there’s still a need for this sort of thing and a community to support it. I’ve spent the past six months engaged in the most important project of my life, and it’s time to let you in on it. After thoroughly ingesting the Virginia Beach surf culture through an extensive series of interviews and research, I’m curating the resulting mountain of words and photographs into a 220-page coffee table book. The process is nearly complete, and @vaisforsurfersbook will be out this summer. More information is coming soon.
