My Coming Out Story!! 🏳️‍🌈😆

I’m 23 and a equestrian/cowgirl who loves horses and for a long time I was afraid to come out because I was afraid that I wouldn’t be allowed to be a horse girl anymore, I was afraid people wouldn’t come to my equine businesses, that people would hate me and never accept me but now that l’ve been out for awhile I know none of that’s true, my horses and family love who I am and if anyone else doesn’t well that’s there problem. If you want to hear the whole story please head over to my YouTube and watch it there!! 🏳️‍🌈

Happy International Day of Pride and Happy pride month! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈

I’d really appreciate if you watched it and I really hope this story helps someone realize that they are perfect the way they are! 🏳️‍🌈

As a queer equestrian, I’ve had a hard time finding things for me and my horse to wear that acknowledge both parts of my identity. Do I need to be a walking rainbow flag everywhere I go? No, but I try to be the figure I wished I’d had as a teenager when I was figuring all this out and feeling so alone in the horse world. Ergo: rainbows. Lots of rainbows. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Here are a few of my favorite small businesses that offer LGBT items for horse, human, or both - including current sales/discount codes:

4. @the_pride_equestrian - PRIDE2025 for 20% off sitewide
5. @maregoods

Know another small business that offers LGBT-themed apparel for horses or humans? Tag them in the comments and I’ll make a part 2 👇

Equestrian life demands truth.
Horses don’t lie — and they don’t let you fake it.

Pride Month matters here because authenticity is performance. The more yourself you are, the more meaningful is your partnership with horses.

This isn’t about rainbow logos in June.
It’s about building ecosystems where everyone exists authentically. Where gender, sexuality, and identity aren’t barriers — they’re assets.

Pride sharpens the culture.
Authenticity sharpens the athlete.
In horses, just like in life — real always wins.

Well I have been very mia recently but hoping to get back to posting more so here are some updates 😅
Starting off with summer, she is still out of work, we had a second vet come out and look at her and she said from my pictures the cut had a lot of tendonitis from when it happened, some of that tendonitis is still there, the swelling is mostly scar tissue and will probably never fully go away, so she recommended 6 months out of work from the time it happened which would be end of July to end of January so we are getting close, but then 3 weeks ago summer decided to freak me out some more, she spooked while I was out feeding and when she turned we think she twisted her fetlock (on the opposite leg of what she is currently out for🤦‍♀️) and went lame again for 2 weeks, she is all good now and we are still on course for bringing her back into riding at the end of January.
We also had maple hill series finals recently and I could not be more proud of honey! We didn't win any averages at finals but for the whole series honey was 1st in the open 4D which won us a custom saddle! And 1st in the youth 3D! For a 21 year old gaited horse she's definitely still got it!
We also had a Hampshire hoofbeats show in benefit of a 4-h club and the girls did not disappoint! Josie's had reserve champion English and ranch and champion western. Honey had champion in games. For the end of the day I had overall high point rider!
Honey and I had our first hay bale barrel race and corn stalk pole bending which was so fun! We were 1st in youth 2D barrels, 1st in the open 3D for poles, and won the youth poles!
Next up is the Clarke Fredrick horse show series awards, unfortunately I couldn't finish out the series with summer due to injury but they let Josie take her points and Josie was amazing receiving green horse w/t reserve champion, green horse w/t/l champion, 3rd overall open ranch, champion youth ranch, and overall ranch highpoint winner!
And finally Josie has been away at training for the last 2 months, we pick her up this Sunday, I took her to a race a couple weeks back and she placed 2nd in the youth 3D despite me messing up the 2nd barrel😅 I'm so happy with her progress!

Honey was reliable as always at our race on Saturday! I've decided to slow down on her a bit as she is getting older, so we ran the open and rolled to the youth and she did not disappoint, running an 18.6 placing us 2nd in the open 4D and 1st in the youth 3D!

Summer went to a real race for the first time and while her exhibitions were beautiful her first run in the open fell apart a bit but we made it though the pattern with no hit barrels then in our youth run I think she spooked at a banner and ended up cutting in front of the 2nd barrel but I made her finish the pattern even though it was a no time and aside from that 2nd barrel our other 2 barrels were very nice
