A diary of me finally doing the things I was too scared to do alone.

Moving to London at 30 has made “go alone or don’t go” a much more common decision than I’d like.

So I’m trying to fake it till I make it.

Started with a cantopop boat party by @the_silktable @cantoclubldn . Seemed sensible. I have my priorities.

WE TURN ONE TODAY!
365 days, 15 tables, 446 guests welcomed. what a bloody year it’s been.

@the_silktable was once a vision in my head. for once in my life i dared to take a leap of faith in myself, and somehow, brought it into reality. A space dedicated to Asian women who now call London home. one table at a time, YOU started shaping this community into a space of love, mutual respect and curiosity about each other’s stories.

throughout this year, a few things guests have said to me have stuck with me ever since. so i wanted to share how YOU describe Silk Table:

“ive never been in a room with this many Asian women in London”

“Silk Table is my chosen family. I chose to leave my family back home, move to London and rebuild a life that i want. In this process, i found Silk Table, a family that i got to choose.”

“Silk Table attracts a self-selective crowd, women who decided to walk through that door are those who believed in themselves, took the courage to come on their own, and want to build meaningful connections.”

i have said this many times and will not stop saying it: thank you for trusting us, and always showing up with kindness and openness. im eternally grateful for what we’re building together <3

looking into the second year, we’re hoping to create more continuity and a tighter knit group through a new system.

watch this space and lets grow old together! (^з^)-☆

London’s hottest Hong Kong night - Canto Disco Boat Party🪩🛥️

As a girl from Hong Kong who moved abroad to the UK, I felt my Cantonese roots becoming more distant the further I got from home. I wanted to find people who shared the same culture, background and language and that’s how @cantoclubldn organically started. After 20+ events across London and Hong Kong this past year, this one in particular felt extra special. Together with @itslammmmmm and 200 people on board, we brought that Hong Kong spark to London.

Wearing @shanghaitang Tang Qipao in black silk jacquard for the night felt like a full-circle moment from my secondary school days in Hong Kong wearing a light blue cheongsam. I didn’t know how to appreciate it then but getting ready for tonight, I found myself admiring the classic fishtail silhouette, the adjusted collar, the tailored sleeves - a piece that blends traditional charm with contemporary design.

Shanghai Tang has been reimagining cultural aesthetics for over 30 years - taking Chinese heritage and making it feel current, playful, alive which is exactly the energy I’m building with Canto Club. “East meets West” means more than just bringing two things together. It’s about finding the right balance for both to exist harmoniously, in a space and a community of people who bridge their identities on the same level.

Thank you to everyone who made tonight what it was. This is just the beginning.

This is what my Midsummer looked like.

This year has been explosive in the best way. I’m tired more often than not, and it’s not always sunshine and rainbows. But this comes from a life that’s actually full, vibrant, and unexpectedly full of surprises.

I’ve worked so hard on Naiad this year, and so much of it is finally coming into bloom. Bespoke commissions, new designs, more coloured gemstones, and still so much more coming!

Not only am I hosting events publicly with Naiad, but I also hosted privately for friends. I spent long days working hard beside the love of my life, as well as a few moments of good music and beautiful weather.

I’ve been reconnecting with my whimsical self and actually got to live in it this Summer. Less bound by rules that never made sense to begin with, and bolder in how I show up, how I dress, and how I let myself be seen.

I’ve been putting myself out there meeting new people, new rooms, new circles. And watched the energy I emit find its way back to me in ways I didn’t expect. Also learnt to let go of my ego and not be afraid to reach out first.

Grateful is not a big enough word
