"Heavy is the head that wears the crown". I’ve always loved that quote for some reason. But never really saw it manifest itself in real day to day life. That is until I met Jared. A man of the people left in the dark. The struggling addicts that most shun and look away from when they're in plain sight and all around us. Those left behind by society to wallow and fight for themselves with no hope for any help. The type of people who need a glimmer of hope in their dark, dark world. To many, Jared is that light. A man who has seen rock bottom on multiple occasions. A man who has overdosed and come back from being declared clinically dead and dusted himself off, cleaned up and clawed his way to reach the highest level of his sport. In my opinion winning in this sport is subjective. Yes, you either win or lose ( on paper) And yes, based on the metrics used ,he fell short this past weekend in São Paulo. But in all reality , Jared is a winner. Why? Because, he found a platform to share his story. A REAL story of overcoming overwhelming odds, on a myriad of occasions. A man that has bigger goals then just making money fighting. He took a fight no one wanted and flew across the world, to fight one of the hottest prospects of the division in his own back yard. The Brazilian fans are the true definition of "fanatics". The energy and passion they bring to an event is something you have to see, feel, and hear in person to believe. Infamously known for their 'Uh vai morrer' or "you're going to die” chants to those that oppose their country men and women. With a smile on his face, Jared marched into the cage ready and confident for battle. He brought the fight to Charles and got caught. It happens to the best. Now is the time that Jared will show his true colors. His true self will show in these times of struggle. As it’s always easy to tell those down and out, to keep their heads up through the struggle when you are on top and winning. In times of struggle is where we all show our true selves. And there’s no doubt in my mind Jared will bounce back and continue being the hero he is to so many struggling all over the world. Love you homie. We’ll be back @jaredflashgordon
