Happy National APP Week!!🩺⁣
⁣
I’m proud to be an advanced practice provider and am constantly in awe of my colleagues and their advocacy, intellect and compassion. We have all landed in this career in slightly different ways and I love learning about our unique journeys. For me, it was navigating my own childhood experiences that led me to pursue a career in healthcare. While in college, I learned more about ACEs (adverse childhood experiences) and trauma-informed care, and really began to reflect on what I wanted my career to look like and how I wanted to advocate for others. Through shadowing + my various extracurriculars and jobs (nursery assistant teacher, hostess, retail stock person, research assistant in anesthesia and neurology, medical assistant, ABA therapist, admin assistant, dance teacher, etc!!😅), I decided that becoming a PNP was the right fit for me and ended up changing my major as a junior in college. ⁣
⁣
I got a lot of 🤨 and experienced a lot of imposter syndrome with each step, but I truly believe I’m right where I’m meant to be. I’ve got lots to learn, but I’ve already gained confidence, knowledge, mentors, friends and a whole lot of humility. This profession is hard and we have work to do my friends, but I’m thankful to be here.❤️ ⁣
⁣
Hugs to my fellow APPs (PA-Cs, CRNAs, CNSs, CNMs, NPs)! Tagged some but there’s sooo many more. Thank you for all you do!

Based on one too many actual patient encounters 😭

Patients, your face isn’t the only area that gets sun exposure and can get sun damage/skin cancer. You should apply SPF 30+ to exposed areas daily and reapply every 2 hours for optimal coverage.
