My story - I was just finishing up an 18 km run when I was mowed down by someone running a red light at an intersection. I woke up in the hospital happy to be alive and to be able to move my legs, thinking I had dodged a bullet. Little did I know I had damage to my brain that would completely derail my life as I knew it at that point.I have a little memory from the first two years post accident though. I do know I spent the majority of my waking hours in some form of rehabilitation therapy or doctors appointment. Super depressing to say the least. I am now exactly 5 years post accident and I have permanent post concussion syndrome. Light and noise sensitivity chronic dizziness headaches insomnia you name it. I do my best to except what is and to move forward.Accept I have worked hard to become an active participant in my own life again. I am my own MVP no one else can do it for me no Doctor No Medication ~just me.~Ali Invisible Injury; people might look fine on the outside but think about what's going on in the inside... #recovery #concussion

Repost from @talesofalab (and then Sadie's story is below the repost).... 🎉🎉🎉 Time to celebrate! The beautiful Sadie had her wish come true today with an amazing #fureverhome ❤️ A tragic tale turned fairy tale thanks to @apurposefulrescue in Los Angeles CA. Big shoutout for the great work they do! Because of folks like them, fur friends like Sadie get second chances at loving families. Congrats again on finding yours, Miss Sadie!!! And congrats to the new #furmom on finding her #magicalunicorn 😘 #adoptasenior #apurposefulrescue #blacklab #blacklabrador #rescuedog #adoptdontshop #labsofinstagram #adoptashelterdog #adoptashelterdogmonth #seniordog #seniordogsrock #dogsofinstagram
From @apurposefulrescue "We rescued Sadie from the West Valley Shelter in Chatsworth 5 weeks ago. After stumbling across a not so great intake photo of her on pet harbor, we contacted our dear friend and long time dedicated volunteer at West Valley, Paula Hsein. West Valley doesn't allow Volunteers back in Medical unlike some of the other shelters we work with so Paula did not know who was back there. When we inquired about Sadie she had no idea she was even back there...and once she was able to meet her she was sure happy we asked! Sadie could not get up. Her arthritis was so bad that she was not even able to stand up on her own. We knew as soon as we heard Paula's voice that Sadie needed to get out of there...and Paula was more than happy to give her a lift! Today, we drove this Magical Unicorn(with a pit stop for a pupachino at Starbucks), now stronger and healthier after 5 weeks of good food, supplements, swimming, and adaquan injections to her forever home in Palm Springs. To say it was bittersweet would be an understatement. We adore this sweet girl but WOW did she hit the dog jack pot!
We are THRILLED to announce that MU Shotgun Sadie has officially been adopted and will be loved to the moon and stars and back again and again and again...and again! By the way, when we pulled up to the house Ali came out and said "WHERE IS MY MAGICAL UNICORN?" HA! We love you, Sadie! Thank you Mama Ali! Welcome to the Magical Unicorn Alumni Family! xoxo"
