POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

8 hours to unfold: relax, relate, release…(in my Whitley voice) with a Joya spa day @omnimontelucia
The views, stellar services, and space to breathe.

This is what celebrating my 40th looked like this year. Quality time with myself and with my “compliment crew”; the many girl friends who I care for deeply and who do the same for me too.

See, I remember being a teenager and seeing my mother head off to spa days and lunch with friends; the pause they took to connect and care for themselves has stayed with me for many years.

A seed that has bloomed in my life as a ritual I’ve come to love.

@thealignedafro once shared with me on my podcast @TheBeautyRevealed_ that “rest is not a luxury, it is our birthright”. And, I feel that in my soul.

Unfolding for me, means deepening my practice of rest and connection.

Letting go of the stiff and moving deeper into the active stillness.

Stepping away from the noise of your everyday, maybe at a spa, or simply a park, and finding the sacredness in breath and presence to rest.

Try it and see what roots grow for you.

Comment with your favorite nature emoji to let me know you felt this post.🌴

Captured live @poeticsoulevent inside the Black-owned @clubcasamoreno in Phoenix, Arizona.

The room was full of love, culture, and community.
Valley Hookah (@valleyhoookah_) kept the vibe smooth, Chef Emmanuel (@dishinitout2you_) held it down with the food, and the poets brought the fire all night.

We witnessed a powerful moment as Mister Baker performed before retiring after 30 years on stage. And True Avery stepped in as the spotlight poet for the night all praises for the opportunity.

Do not erase your past. Sharpen your pen. Write your future. ✒️
