🩵 I wish I wasn’t the person that takes 2-3 months to post photos from a performance, but I fear that will never be me 😄

I am in love with these photos from @theapprenteasewa taken by the exquisite @kdariusphotography !

The idea behind this act was simple… as in keep it as simple as possible.

I feel most confident in black high waisted pants (RIP the stage manager pants I hacked up to make this routine) and a plain singlet/t-shirt so that’s what I did.

I moved in the way I wanted to move.

I fought my instinct every step of the way to add more and more reveals, costume pieces and embellishments. The simplicity of the costume was key.

I resisted buying new, and used things I already owned:
- Rhinestones harvested from other costumes
- Body suit corset I bought for a previous act (that I only performed once 🫠)
- Aforementioned stage manager pants
- Gloves I don’t even remember buying
- A headpiece I bought in Melbourne years ago
- Removal pieces I had collected over my time (magnets, ribbon, pull thread)

It felt real good coming off stage at the Apprentease WA finals, unfortunately shortly after my brain got the better of me and I became hyper critical of everything I did and wondered if I would ever be good enough. But I learnt from it, I grew, I accepted.

The judges feedback was so spot on and helpful, they really all put their heart and soul into their task and I am so appreciative. I’ve changed somethings in the act based on that advice and other things I kept as they were because they were an intentional choice.

Every performer bought their all to that stage and every act was deserving of so much applause and praise! Saying that I am proud of the WA burlesque community is such an understatement.

I encourage everyone to enter Apprentease if it’s something they want! Remember the biggest challenge will never be the choreography, the costuming, the reveals and removals. The biggest challenge will always be your mindset and not losing yourself and your art in the process 🩵

I am so proud, honoured and excited to represent. Looking forward to the next phase of my @theapprenteasewa $20 costume and the week of development (after I pivoted to still be able to it) hopefully elevating in a different way for @diyburleskoala

This is an incredible lineup showcasing diversity and talent from every state including NT and Tasmania!

Apprentease Class of 2026 what an honour to be a part of it. An incredible group of Perth Performers where the finalists SMASHED it! Elevating to next level that even the judging would have been next level hard too!!!

See that shake, that moment the body wanted to say no and yet I and many others continue on. This picture captures the pain, joy, pride and that moment of relief that I got through and that meant the world.

Living with invisible disability becoming more visible is a reality and yet I do not use assistance at all times in my every day life as I try to keep as much mobility going as I can. I decided to do this unaided and yet was unknowingly further unwell and was in hospital days later. This is the reminder no one truly knows our lives off stage but our nearest and dearest, so to every performer I cheer for you always.

I have pulled away from a lot of recent because I no longer want the 'noise'. Through therapy I have found healing. Acknowledging it is ok to step back and no longer give all my energy out to not have any for myself, my partner or 'family'.

I have incredible friends and people, performers, teachers, mentors across the world both on and off stage. To the incredible @missflojangles your talent and last minute assistance with this routine was amazing. To create a costume (thank you @theladyseraphina for base items to build on), choreo and deliver it to stage in the space of a week (due to my body unable to do the original plan) is something I am incredibly proud of. Thank you @theapprenteasewa for receiving all my updates in 24 hours and letting me go ahead.

Thank you @lizzy_jane_baker and @cococabanaqueen you both really made me appreciate, be inspired and dive deeper, which I love.

Can't wait for the next elevation of this act. Have already started thinking of the direction for the original idea too. I am stepping back from term courses for a bit and just taking things slowly while also looking to give back in different ways more too...

Wow, wow, wow and more wow!!!
What an absolutely outstanding Apprentease WA Final ✨
Gosh it was such a privilege to sit back, cheer loud (very loud), and watch so many incredible rising stars take the stage. The level of talent, growth, and commitment in that room was something really special.

As a mentor, I’m so proud to see so many Skye High performers step up, work bloody hard, and truly own their moment on stage. Seeing that kind of growth is what it’s all about. Absolutely amazing 👏

Biggest congratulations to:
✨ Winner – @booby.la.ru
✨ Runner Up – @vivienneangelou
