So, what exactly is THE ARCHIVIST STYLES? Excellent question. We are part fashion magazine, part styling studio, part archive obsession, part shopping problem that has somehow developed a business plan. And this is our magazine. Not another collection of pretty clothes floating around the internet with absolutely no opinion attached to them. Each issue starts with a look, then pulls at the thread. We talk about the designers behind it. The references. The decades that refuse to die. The pieces worth finding again. The rules worth breaking. London. Culture. Archive fashion. New fashion. And occasionally the sort of dress that requires its own postcode. At the centre of it all is Amelia. Our illustrated editor, stylist, professional overdresser and woman most likely to explain why you absolutely do need another black dress because this one is historically significant. ISSUE 002: CINDAFUCKINRELLA is about dressing after dark. The 1990s. Versace. Skin. Sexiness. Transformation. Fashion as theatre. The Met Gala. And that delicious moment when getting dressed stops being practical and starts becoming a performance. Because The Archivist Styles isn’t interested in telling you what’s “in”. We’re much more interested in asking: Why was it good in the first place? Why do we still want it now? And how the fuck are we going to wear it? Alongside the magazine lives The Lookbook, our curated styling world; The Forever Piece Exchange, where exceptional wardrobes get another life; and The Atelier, where we introduce the designers and makers we think deserve a little more attention. Old fashion. New fashion. Very good fashion.
