Happy International Jazz Day! A beautiful night at Eastman School of Music watching the Vocal Jazz students take the stage. This is only the second cohort in a brand-new program led by @saragazarek and it’s already exciting to see it forming its identity—students actively shaping something as it’s being built. They performed alongside Grammy-nominated artist Christie Dashiell—a rare and generous learning experience where artistry is modeled at the highest level, in real time. There was such focus, growth, and musical depth on that stage. Watching them step into that moment was powerful. So proud to see these students I’ve worked with since January stepping into this level of artistry and holding their own on a stage like that. This is what consistent daily practice and high-level training builds. Kudos, all! #conquestvoicestudio #vocaljazz #christiedashiell #vocalcoach #eastmanschoolofmusic

What an experience! I'm still processing everything that’s happened, and wow — thank you, thank you, thank you! Being able to experience a place like the @eastman.school was a real privilege. The teachers and fellow students were incredibly kind and professional. Special thanks to @saragazarek — an amazing artist and teacher. Here are a few moments — not everyone is pictured, but you’re all in my heart! Thank you, Rochester 🇺🇸🎵 #eastmanschool #eastmanschoolofmusic #bigband #jazzensamble #vocalensamble

✨ holy moly ✨ it’s been an INCREDIBLE first year at Eastman (@eastman.school), and I couldn’t be more proud of my brilliant, tenacious, hilarious, incredibly driven, very, very, very inspiring students. It’s been a joy to learn from them every day, to watch them jump, challenge themselves, break boundaries, and step boldly into their budding artistry — and Y’ALL, nabbing a DownBeat (@downbeat_mag) Student Music Award for Outstanding Large Vocal Jazz Ensemble for their VERY FIRST live performance??? COME ON! We loved welcoming Michael Mayo (@themichaelmayo), Greg Jasperse (@gregjasperse), and Tracy Robertson (@tracyljrobertson) as our artists in residence — they broke our hearts wide open with their guitar duo collaborations and had my jaw on the floor with their non-degree recitals. Oh, and TWO first-year jazz vocalists singing John Clayton (@johnclaytonjazz) in Kodak Hall? Sheesh. I can’t imagine where they’ll continue to take things, but I know I’ll continue to feel wildly grateful to be along for the ride. #JazzVoice #DownBeatAwards #FirstYearWins #Whaaaaat #KierstenConwayForPresident #SGtakestheDC
