A quick snap as I ran in to a board meeting at @thearkdublin. It’s been an amazing couple of weeks, with both Bees and Pram People by @polyglottheatre performed as part of the @dublintheatrefestival_ and the launch of Dream Big: New Plays From The Ark 2019-2025. And there’s always so much else going on in and outside the building. It’s always dizzying to catch up on the work going on.

A celebration of art and community! 🎭🎨 Last week members of our Community Families Groups took part in the colourful Pram People event hosted by the Ark, in collaboration with Polyglot theatre group. 🎭 Throughout this interactive performance, children and families walked and listened to thoughts on parenting, making this an inclusive and powerful experience. Artists and performance also make the event quite entertaining and interactive. ELI was delighted to attend this special performance! Thank you to the Ark and the Polyglot group for all their work on this wonderful event! 😄✨ #communityfamilies #earlylearninginitiative #supportingparents #dublintheatrefestival2026 #theark

🎭 ⛺ Grand Soft Day at the Sydney Opera House as part of the Wild Things Festival From torrential downpours to sudden gusts of wind, nature sure knows how to change up the itinerary! 🌧️💨 My son and I caught Grand Soft Day at the Sydney Opera House as part of the Wild Things festival, and it is an absolute delight. Following three pals navigating unpredictable elements in the woods, this beautiful production captures all four seasons in a single 45-minute journey. Brought to life with a lively percussive soundtrack and a multilingual mix of English, Irish, and Italian, it’s a playful, imaginative treat that celebrates the magic of the outdoors. Highly recommended especially for young ones. Thank you for the invite to this beautiful show. 🎭 @cultureireland @thearkdublin 📍 @sydneyoperahouse 🗓 8-11 Oct 2026 🧒🧒🏻 Recommended for ages 1-6 🕙 Runtime: approx 45mins without an interval 📷 @chamellephoto except some photos by Anita Murphy. ✏️Celebrating thirty years of The Ark, Dream Big: New Plays from The Ark 2019–2025 brings together five plays commissioned by Europe’s first children’s cultural centre. ✏️Since opening its doors in 1995, The Ark has operated in Dublin city as a dedicated cultural centre for children – making and sharing fun, ambitious work that aims to realise every child’s right to participate freely in the arts. ✏️At the heart of the award-winning building is the intimate, child-sized theatre, which for thirty years has been launching new plays written for and with children from birth to twelve years old. ✏️Dream Big: New Plays from The Ark 2019–2025 brings together five playscripts commissioned for performance in this unique space, collected and lovingly introduced by The Ark’s Director Aideen Howard. ✏️Each play incorporated child consultation as an essential part of its development, each is bursting with its own creative spirit, and all five are ready to find new audiences in theatres and classrooms around the country and beyond. Plays included: Peat by Kate Heffernan The Haircut! by Wayne Jordan What Did I Miss? by Shaun Dunne The Giggler Treatment by Fionn Foley The Making of Mollie by Anna Carey #irelandbookclub #thearkdublin #playscripts #irishauthors #irishplaywrightandauthor

One week down. So much more to come. The lights have gone down on the first week of Dublin Theatre Festival — but we’re only getting started. Over the past few days, we’ve welcomed audiences across Dublin for world premieres, Irish premieres and extraordinary theatre from Ireland and around the world. We’ve opened the Festival at the Gaiety with RADIO BETTE, seen TANZ make its Irish premiere, and said goodbye to Dignity, The Horse of Jenin and Hysterically Shopping! To Some Sort of End… as they finished their sold out Festival runs. Meanwhile, CYCLONE, ANIMALS, Lourdes! The Musical, Meredith and Heroes of Tomorrow continue — and this week, a whole new wave of theatre arrives. From 30 September, new productions begin opening across the city, including Without Distinction of Sex, Rebellious Hope, REFUGE, Power Play, ZINC, A Moon for the Misbegotten, Bees, Let Me In and visions. The Festival is in full swing. There are two weeks left. And some of the biggest moments are still to come.
