We were so lucky to work with Adam Turck. His brilliant portrayal of Chase in SMOKE and his work as Young John in our upcoming film The Taylows left a lasting impact on our Cadence community.

As we move into the new year, we’re mindful that this can be a difficult season for many. In moments like this, community becomes a powerful source of light and hope. We want to share an opportunity being organized by the Adam Turck Memorial Project, an effort created to honor Adam’s memory and support gun violence reduction in Richmond.

The Adam Turck Memorial Project has been connecting with local organizations and community leaders to support Gun Violence Intervention, Reduction, and Prevention efforts. As part of that work, they are inviting community members to participate in Advocacy Day during the 2026 Virginia General Assembly Session.

On Monday, January 19, 2026 (MLK Jr. Day), advocates will gather at the Virginia State Capitol to speak directly with members of the Virginia Senate and House of Delegates about legislation related to gun violence. The day will include opportunities to meet with legislators (for those who are comfortable), as well as a vigil and speeches outside the Capitol, all to help legislators better understand how this issue impacts our community.

As artists and cultural leaders, our voices matter. Showing up together helps demonstrate how deeply Richmonders care about reducing gun violence. The goal is to bring 150 “Friends of Adam Turck” to the Capitol, and Cadence is honored to help spread the word.

Please consider attending and encouraging others to do the same. RSVP here so organizers can best plan:

Thank you to the sub committee running and organizing this event: CJ Bergin, Chelsea Burke, Rachel Garmon-Williams, Rachel Dilliplane, Joel White, Lara Belfield, and Matt Ferguson.

More details to come. For now, mark your calendars, share with your community, and show up.
