In the light of the recent WWDC that happened late last week, I thought it appropriate to talk about the market psychology behind Apple’s stocks dropping almost comically every time there is some kind of official announcement. If you hold apple shares, you for sure have noticed how stocks often drop almost suddenly when there’s a new phone, mac, or even with WWDC. Investors tend to hold onto their profits- which is essentially the concept of “selling the news”. Traders start to buy early- pushing the price per share up and once the news becomes public they sell to take their profits. This causes the price to fall even if the news is “good” or what the market asked for. Its not something to be afraid of if you hold apple shares in my opinion. Apple shares are meant to be held over a long period of time and wether the share price drops after each announcement doesn’t reflect on the long term performance very much. I personally have held my Apple shares for over 3 years and never sold. The company has very good performance in the long run and unless they do something unethical that I dont agree with I’ll keep investing. — Hi (: I’m Katy.
